Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

Morphological and physiological changes in Saccharomyces cerevisiae by oxidative stress from hyperbaric air [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Increase in air or oxygen pressure in microbial cell cultures can cause oxidative stress and consequently affect cell physiology and morphology. The behaviour of Saccharomyces cerevisiae grown under hyperbaric atmospheres of air and pure oxygen was ...

Effect of an oxidizing environment on the phase structure of lead oxide nanowires

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2013
The effect of an oxidizing environment on the phase formation of lead oxide nanowires is reported. The phase structure, optical properties, sizes and morphologies of the nanowires have been investigated by atomic force microscopy, x-ray diffraction, and ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

How best to interpret measures of levels of oxygen in tissues to make them effective clinical tools for care of patients with cancer and other oxygen‐dependent pathologies

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2020
It is well understood that the level of molecular oxygen (O2) in tissue is a very important factor impacting both physiology and pathological processes as well as responsiveness to some treatments.

Sputter deposition of copper oxide films

open access: yes, 2019
Copper oxide thin films are grown by reactive magnetron sputter deposition. To define the parameter space to obtain CuO films, the influence of the oxygen partial pressure, the total pressure, and the discharge current was investigated on the phase ...

Remote Monitoring in Myasthenia Gravis: Exploring Symptom Variability

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare, autoimmune disorder characterized by fluctuating muscle weakness and potential life‐threatening crises. While continuous specialized care is essential, access barriers often delay timely interventions. To address this, we developed MyaLink, a telemedical platform for MG patients.
