The Axially Symmetric Ejecta of Supernova 1987A [PDF]
Extensive early observations proved that the ejecta of supernova 1987A (SN 1987A) are aspherical. Fifteen years after the supernova explosion, the Hubble Space Telescope has resolved the rapidly expanding ejecta.

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

The iron K line complex in NGC1068: implications for X-ray reflection in the nucleus [PDF]
We report a new analysis of ASCA data on the iron K line complex in NGC1068. The line complex basically consists of three components, as previously reported. A weak red wing of the 6.4 keV fluoresence iron K line is found.

Collagen hydrolysate is evaluated as a sustainable binder for MgO‐C refractories. Its thermally induced cross‐linking and gas release lead to expansion and cracking in large bricks, but tailored batches with lignin, recyclates, or fine graphite improve the gas release while thermal treatment and stability.

Three-Dimensional Simulations of Mixing Instabilities in Supernova Explosions
We present the first three-dimensional (3D) simulations of the large-scale mixing that takes place in the shock-heated stellar layers ejected in the explosion of a 15.5 solar-mass blue supergiant star.

Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...

XMM-Newton unveils the type 2 nature of the BLRG 3C 445
We present an observation of XMM-Newton that unambiguously reveals the ``Seyfert 2'' nature of the Broad Line Radio Galaxy 3C 445. For the first time the soft excess of this source has been resolved. It consists of unobscured scattered continuum flux and

The mineralogy, geometry and mass-loss history of IRAS 16342-3814 [PDF]
We present the 2-200 um Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) spectrum and 3.8-20 um ISAAC and TIMMI2 images of the extreme OH/IR star IRAS 16342-3814. Amorphous silicate absorption features are seen, together with crystalline silicate absorption features up ...

The incorporation of nondigested ECM and synthetic polymers into a co‐electrospinning system enables the decoupling of bioactivity and mechanical properties within a single wrap. This technique is used to develop a multifunctional bone wrap that achieves augmented membrane durability, sustained infection control, and enhanced vascularity for use in ...
