RESUMO O oxiurídeo Protozoophaga obesa apresentou altas prevalência e intensidade de infecção em 27 sistemas digestivos dissecados de capivaras, Hydrochaeris hydrochaeris, criadas em regime semiintensivo, em Santo Antônio da Patrulha, RS. Este helminto foi encontrado em 94,44% dos animais examinados, com intensidade média de 709 espécimes.

The egg of Aspiculuris tetraptera is an ellipsoid measuring 93 × 40 µm. The shell consists of 5 layers: the external uterine layer, internal uterine layer, vitelline layer, chitinous layer and the lipid layer. This nomenclature is based upon the formation and histochemistry of the shell layers.
