Is Routine Interruption of Direct Oral Anticoagulants Necessary during Colorectal Endoscopic Mucosal Resection and Hot Snare Polypectomy? A Multicenter Propensity‐Matched Study

open access: yesJournal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Colorectal endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and hot snare polypectomy (HSP) are high‐bleeding‐risk endoscopic procedures, and most clinical guidelines recommend stopping direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) temporarily or switching to heparin‐bridging therapy (HBT). However, existing evidence is largely derived from cohorts

Footwear Characteristics and Their Impact on Gait and Balance in Older Adults: A Systematic Review of Recent Evidence

open access: yesJournal of the American Geriatrics Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Improper footwear has been identified as a modifiable risk factor for falls in older adults. Studies suggest that certain footwear characteristics can impair gait and balance, thereby increasing the risk of falls. However, the impact of footwear on gait and balance control may vary across research protocols.

Precautionary Saving against Correlation under Risk and Ambiguitya

open access: yesJournal of Money, Credit and Banking, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper considers precautionary saving against the correlation between two risky attributes (wealth and health) and investigates how the correlation affects optimal savings under multivariate preferences. The signs of higher‐order cross‐derivatives play a key role in determining the direction of precautionary saving against such correlation.

Detecting Favoritism in Public Procurement

open access: yesThe Journal of Industrial Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Favoritism as a mode of corruption is a major concern in public procurement (PP) in many countries. We propose a regression discontinuity design (RDD) test arguing that the winning history of marginal winners and losers can be used to detect favoritism.

Suprahyoid Muscle Activity and Fatigue During Tongue Elevation Compared With the Head Lift Exercise: A Surface EMG Study

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
Tongue elevation elicited suprahyoid muscle activity comparable to the head lift exercise, despite a greater decline in median frequency over time. Tongue elevation may represent a practical alternative or complementary exercise for suprahyoid muscle training.

Number of Teeth and Posterior Occlusal Pairs by Sociodemographic Factors in the Finnish Adult Population, Results From the Healthy Finland 2023 Study

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
In Healthy Finland 2023‐study, edentulism prevalence was 4.2%, mean number of teeth 24.8, and POPs (posterior occlusal pairs) 6.5. POPs and number of teeth had likewise associations with sociodemographic background factors: older age, lower education, lower income, and being widowed were associated with lower number of teeth and POPs.

Can Deep Learning Methods Differentiate Temporomandibular Joint Disorders From Healthy Joints? A 3D Artificial Intelligence Algorithm Study Based on CBCT Images

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
In this study, an integrated deep learning approach was developed for the evaluation of temporomandibular joint disorders using multicentre CBCT images. The mandibular condyle was first automatically segmented using the nnU‐Net v2 architecture. Subsequently, 3D‐CNN algorithms classified the condyles as healthy or unhealthy and further distinguished ...

Association of Fried Frailty Phenotype With Occlusal Status, Health‐Related Quality of Life, and Nutritional Status Among Older Adults Living in Long‐Term Care

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
Older adults with adequate occlusal status were less likely to be frail. Frailty was associated with poorer health‐related quality of life, while prefrailty was linked to better nutritional status and body composition among residents living in long‐term care.
