Durable Bio‐Based Nanocomposite Coating on Urinary Catheters Prevents Early‐Stage CAUTI‐Associated Pathogenicity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 12, Issue 13, July 14, 2025.
A stable bio‐based nanocomposite coating for urinary catheters is developed using a simple, environmentally‐friendly sonochemical process. The coating, integrating antimicrobial, antibiofilm, and antioxidant properties, effectively tackled multiple early‐stage pathogenic factors associated with catheter‐associated urinary tract infections.

Comparative Net Survival Analysis of Men and Women With Breast Cancer in Japan: A Population‐Based Study

open access: yesCancer Science, Volume 116, Issue 7, Page 1963-1971, July 2025.
This study compared male breast cancer (MBC) and female breast cancer (FBC) survival using data from Japanese population‐based cancer registries diagnosed between 1993 and 2011. The findings reveal that MBC survival is comparable to FBC, with no significant sex‐based differences in 5‐ and 10‐year net survival across period, age, stage, and histological

Long non‐coding RNAs Kcnq1ot1 and Lncpint are involved in skeletal muscle atrophy induced by the space exposome

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 603, Issue 14, Page 3973-3986, 15 July 2025.
Abstract figure legend Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) KCNQ1OT1 and LINC‐PINT are upregulated in mouse, human and cell models of spaceflight‐induced muscle atrophy, revealing a novel regulatory role under (simulated) microgravity. Abstract Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play an important role in the regulation of skeletal muscle transcriptional ...

The Global Biogeochemical Cycle of Chromium at the Earth's Surface

open access: yesGlobal Biogeochemical Cycles, Volume 39, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract The biogeochemistry of Cr and its cycling in Earth's surface environments is reviewed. A synthesis and critical evaluation of the major processes controlling Cr mobility and isotope composition (δ53Cr) is presented, taking a source to sink view beginning with Cr mobilization from Earth's crust.
