The ozone layer

Photodermatology, Photoimmunology & Photomedicine, 2004
Background/Purpose: The intention of this paper is to stimulate the interest for the ozone layer, especially among young colleagues in photobiology; the “layer” is not only important, but also fascinating. Conclusion: In spite of remarkably effective action, the recovery of the ozone layer will be a long‐term process.

The Ozone Layer

2014
Ozone (O3) is formed in the atmosphere when oxygen atoms (O) react with oxygen molecules (O2). In the upper atmosphere solar UV radiation of wavelengths shorter than 242 nm can photolyze O2 molecules and thereby produce O atoms. Since oxygen strongly absorbs solar UV, O2 photolysis is restricted to the upper atmosphere.

Artificial ozone layer

Physics Letters A, 1995
Abstract The possibility of artificial ozone layer creation in the stratosphere by powerful microwaves is discussed theoretically. Numerical calculations and analytical results for a simple oxygen model are presented.

Ozone Layer Depletion

2023
Abstract –             There are numerous circumstances where human exercises altogether affect the climate. Ozone layer harm is one of them. The goal of this paper is to audit the beginning, causes, components and bio impacts of ozone layer exhaustion as well as the defensive proportions of this evaporating layer. The chlorofluorocarbon and the halons

Boundary-Layer Ozone in Croatia

Journal of Atmospheric Chemistry, 1997
An analysis of ozone distribution in the atmospheric boundary layer based on monitoring data from two TOR stations in Croatia is given. The levels were found to be generally higher than expected for the continental background. At the Puntijarka station, which can be taken as representative for the region, high values are mainly associated with ...

The Ozone Layer

2001
The Ozone Layer: A Philosophy of Science Perspective provides the first thorough and accessible history of stratospheric ozone, from the discovery of ozone in the nineteenth century to current investigations of the Antarctic ozone hole. Drawing directly on the extensive scientific literature, Christie uses the story of ozone as a case study for ...

The ozone layer

2005
Abstract Nevertheless, it is still one of the more important minor constituents of the atmosphere. One reason is because ozone has more strong absorption bands in the ultraviolet (UV) than the other common atmospheric gases, and so it dominates radiative transfer in this part of the spectrum.

The Ozone Layer

1999
The term “ozone hole” appears in almost all discussions about environmental problems — be it the greenhouse effect, groundwater pollution, or the loss of amphibians — and it is used as a matter of course by all Although many do not know what the term really implies, polls show that among the various environmental problems the ozone hole is considered ...
