We studied pollen consumption and breakage of pollen grains by tadpoles of three different ecomorphotypes likely to influence ease of access to different feeding microhabitats. We found tadpoles adapted to feed on the water surface (where pollen is first available to aquatic food webs) to eat more pollen and break relatively more grains, which is ...

Abstract The aim of our study was to evaluate HEV antibody kinetics in HIV/HCV‐coinfected patients with cirrhosis. A longitudinal retrospective study was designed. Patients were followed up every 6 months; anti‐HEV IgG and IgM antibodies levels and HEV‐RNA by qPCR were analysed. The prevalence and incidence of every HEV infection marker were calculated.

Hepatitis E virus in the endangered Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus)
Abstract Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is an emerging zoonotic pathogen in Europe. In the Iberian Peninsula, wild boar (Sus scrofa) is considered the main wildlife reservoir of HEV. First and third instar Chrysoperla externa showed efficient predatory capacity at low R. indica density, but second instar C. externa exhibits a density‐dependent predatory ability. The lacewing C. externa shows promise as a biocontrol agent for R. indica in coconut because it consumed 8362 R. indica females across all its larval instars.

When Raptors Are Away, Opossums Will Play: Woolly Opossums as Carrion Feeders in Harpy Eagle Nests
Scavenging by New World marsupials is rarely documented. We recorded woolly opossums (Caluromys lanatus) scavenging prey remains from a Harpy eagle’s nest in central Brazil. The low overlap in activity periods between the two species may facilitate the behavior observed here.
