Documentation of Drug and Non-Drug Allergies in Public Hospital Electronic Health Records: A National Survey. [PDF]

open access: yesClin Exp Allergy
These surveys reveal inconsistent electronic patient record (EPR) systems and poor documentation standards for non‐drug allergies, leading to high incident rates and misclassification. Standardised documentation, improved training and user‐friendly EPR platforms are urgently needed to enhance patient safety and reduce allergy‐related incidents across ...

Intracranial Hypertension and Optic Neuritis in Two Unrelated Seronegative Cases. [PDF]

open access: yesClin Case Rep
ABSTRACT Intracranial Hypertension (ICHT) is identified as the elevation of Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) pressure in patients devoid of any underlying causes. Optic Neuritis (ON) is not typically seen as a complication of ICHT, and patients diagnosed with concurrent manifestation of both these disorders usually have some identifiable underlying cause.

Correlations between pathogenic variants in DNA repair genes and anticancer treatment efficacy in stage IV non-small cell lung cancer: A large real-world cohort and review of the literature. [PDF]

open access: yesThorac Cancer, 2023
Our retrospective data suggest that in patients with stage 4 NSCLC, pathogenic variants in DDR pathway genes may be associated with higher efficacy of radiotherapy and immune checkpoint inhibitors. This should be further explored prospectively. Abstract Background Mutations in genes involved in DNA damage repair (DDR), a hallmark of cancer, are ...

Neural signatures of memory gain through active exploration in an oculomotor‐auditory learning task

open access: yesPsychophysiology, Volume 60, Issue 10, October 2023., 2023
Abstract Active engagement improves learning and memory, and self‐ versus externally generated stimuli are processed differently: perceptual intensity and neural responses are attenuated. Whether the attenuation is linked to memory formation remains unclear. This study investigates whether active oculomotor control over auditory stimuli—controlling for

The recognition, assessment and perceptions of total pain in people with profound intellectual disabilities: A mixed methods systematic review

open access: yesJournal of Applied Research in Intellectual Disabilities, Volume 36, Issue 5, Page 940-950, September 2023., 2023
Abstract Background People with profound intellectual disabilities are a population with complex comorbidities. Total pain recognises the interconnectedness of aspects of pain; social, psychological, physical, emotional, spiritual. Pain is under‐recognised due to communication challenges and carers perceptions.

Visual atrophy rating scales and amyloid PET status in an Alzheimer's disease clinical cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 10, Issue 4, Page 619-631, April 2023., 2023
Abstract Objectives Visual rating scales (VRS) are the quantification method closest to the approach used in routine clinical practice to assess brain atrophy. Previous studies have suggested that the medial temporal atrophy (MTA) rating scale is a reliable diagnostic marker for AD, equivalent to volumetric quantification, while others propose a higher

Sensory suppression and increased neuromodulation during actions disrupt memory encoding of unpredictable self‐initiated stimuli

open access: yesPsychophysiology, Volume 60, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Actions modulate sensory processing by attenuating responses to self‐ compared to externally generated inputs, which is traditionally attributed to stimulus‐specific motor predictions. Yet, suppression has been also found for stimuli merely coinciding with actions, pointing to unspecific processes that may be driven by neuromodulatory systems.

Development and validation of a functional screening tool for adults with intellectual disabilities

open access: yesJournal of Applied Research in Intellectual Disabilities, Volume 35, Issue 6, Page 1281-1296, November 2022., 2022
Abstract Background The dynamic nature of intellectual disability necessitates repeated screening. Method The functional screening tool (FST‐ID) for individuals with intellectual disabilities was carefully constructed. Results The FST‐ID General Adaptive Composite score (GAC) runs between 0 and 68 points.

Validation and cross‐linguistic adaptation of the Frenchay Dysarthria Assessment (FDA‐2) speech intelligibility tests: Hebrew version

open access: yesInternational Journal of Language &Communication Disorders, Volume 57, Issue 5, Page 1023-1049, September/October 2022., 2022
Abstract ‘Dysarthria’ is a group of motor speech disorders resulting from a disturbance in neuromuscular control. Most individuals with dysarthria cope with communicative restrictions due to speech impairments and reduced intelligibility. Thus, language‐sensitive measurements of intelligibility are important in dysarthria neurological assessment.
