This chapter discusses a spaceborne P-band synthetic aperture radar concept based on a distributed architecture and formation flying technologies. This approach can in principle allow overcoming physical constraints that limit the performance of monolithic SARs, leading in the P-band case to huge antennas and hard swath/resolution trade-offs.

Polarimetric SAR tomography of tropical forests at P-Band
2011 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2011This paper addresses the characterization of tropical forests by estimating their heights and the underlying ground topography. A novel hybrid spectral approach is proposed and applied to P-Band Multi-baseline PolInSAR data acquired during the TropiSAR campaign over the test site of Paracou in French Guiana.

A P-band radar mission to Mars

P-Band SAR tomography for the characterization of tropical forests

Airborne SAR for Calibration of P-Band Tower Radar

In this paper, we describe a methodology for absolute radiometric calibration of BorealScat and apply it to a set of backscatter measurements at P-band (420–450 MHz).

Airborne circular SAR imaging: Results at P-band

Data was acquired using the MITL's P-band, fully polarimetric SAR system along a circular trajectory with the beam spotted on the same area.

Effect of the ionosphere on P-band spaceborne SAR images

Bistatic P-band SAR signatures of forests and vehicles
