This paper deals with the uncapacitated multiple allocation p-hub median problem (UMApHMP). An electromagnetism-like (EM) method is proposed for solving this NP-hard problem. Our new scaling technique, combined with the movement based on the attraction-repulsion mechanism, directs the EM towards promising search regions.

A single allocation p-hub median problem with general piecewise-linear costs in arcs
Computers & Industrial Engineering, 2019Abstract Hubs are used in postal, air passenger transportation, and less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation industries to consolidate, sort, and classify the flows from multiple origins to multiple destinations (OD pairs). Hub-and-spoke networks are commonly designed to exploit economies of scale, and multiple cost functions have been proposed.

A new efficient metaheuristic for solving the Uncapacitated Single Allocation p-Hub Median Problem
2018 International Colloquium on Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LOGISTIQUA), 2018Hub location problem is an NP-hard problem, it deals with finding the location of hub facilities and allocating the demand nodes to these hub facilities so as to effectively route the demand between any origin-destination pair. In this paper, we study the Uncapacitated Single Allocation p-Hub Median Problem (USApHMP) variant of the hub location ...

Single Allocation P-Hub Median Problem to Monitor Land Borders by Using Unmanned Aircraft
2010During the last two decades, hub location problems have become popular with successful applications in transportation, telecommunication, networks, retailing and other logistic systems. In this paper we consider Turkey’s land borders security. Because security is the one of the most important deal nowadays, countries are spending so much to prevent ...

A Modified Benders Method for the Single- and Multiple Allocation P-Hub Median Problems
2018We consider the well-known uncapacitated p-hub median problem with multiple allocation (UMApHMP), and single allocation (USApHMP). These problems have received significant attention in the literature because while they are easy to state and understand, they are hard to solve.

Finding p-Hub Median Locations: An Empirical Study on Problems and Solution Techniques
2017Hub location problems have been studied by many researchers for almost 30 years, and, accordingly, various solution methods have been proposed. In this paper, we implement and evaluate several widely used methods for solving five standard hub location problems. To assess the scalability and solution qualities of these methods, three well-known datasets
