Sparse Median Graphs Estimation in a High Dimensional Semiparametric Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this manuscript a unified framework for conducting inference on complex aggregated data in high dimensional settings is proposed. The data are assumed to be a collection of multiple non-Gaussian realizations with underlying undirected graphical ...

Evolution of Physical Intelligence Across Scales

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
By following the evolution of physical intelligence across scales, this article shows how intelligence arises from materials, structures, physical interactions, and collectives. It establishes physical intelligence as the evolutionary foundation upon which embodied intelligence is built.

Single failure resiliency in greedy routing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Using greedy routing, network nodes forward packets towards neighbors which are closer to their destination. This approach makes greedy routers significantly more memory-efficient than traditional IP-routers using longest-prefix matching.

Single allocation p-hub median location and routing problem with simultaneous pick-up and delivery

open access: yesTransportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review, 2017
Abstract We introduce the single allocation p-hub median location and routing problem with simultaneous pick-up and delivery based on observations from real life hub networks. The aim of our problem is to minimize the cost of transferring the flow between hubs and routing the flow in the network.

Modeling and Characterization of a Self‐Sensing Soft Hydraulic Muscle

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article presents the self‐sensing soft hydraulic muscle (SSHM), a novel soft actuator capable of simultaneously sensing force and length without external sensors. A comprehensive model accurately predicts SSHM behavior, validated experimentally with minimal errors. Using propylene glycol enhances durability and reduces hysteresis.

Implications of Selfish Neighbor Selection in Overlay Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In a typical overlay network for routing or content sharing, each node must select a fixed number of immediate overlay neighbors for routing traffic or content queries.

Intelligent Operator‐Independent Flexibility in Robotic Non‐Destructive Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Non‐destructive evaluation of high‐value components remains a manufacturing bottleneck due to rigid robotic calibration and fixturing. This study presents a flexible, adaptable system integrating 3D vision and force‐position control with a collaborative KUKA LBR robot. The geometry‐agnostic system enables pose‐independent ultrasonic inspection, detects

A Fast Frequent Directions Algorithm for Low Rank Approximation

open access: yes, 2018
Recently a deterministic method, frequent directions (FD) is proposed to solve the high dimensional low rank approximation problem. It works well in practice, but experiences high computational cost. In this paper, we establish a fast frequent directions
