A suture in time: The ontogeny of cranial suture morphology in mammals
Mammal cranial sutures are important indicators of the biomechanical and developmental pressures acting upon the skull. Across three prominent sutures dividing the vault of the mammalian skull, divergent patterns emerge both taxonomically and developmentally.

ABSTRACT We assess the long‐term effects of managerial stress on aging and mortality. Using a difference‐in‐differences design, we apply neural network–based machine‐learning techniques to CEOs' facial images and show that exposure to industry distress shocks during the Great Recession produces visible signs of aging. We estimate a one‐year increase in

Abstract This study introduces a novel integrated framework for real‐time tunnel boring machine (TBM) thrust prediction, addressing critical limitations in handling non‐stationarity, complex spatiotemporal dependencies, and abrupt disturbances. First, a real‐time windowed multi‐resolution analysis process, which performs decomposition strictly within ...

Expected value, to a point: Moral decision‐making under background uncertainty
Abstract Expected value maximization gives plausible guidance for moral decision‐making under uncertainty in many situations. But it has unappetizing implications in ‘Pascalian’ situations involving tiny probabilities of extreme outcomes. This paper shows, first, that under realistic levels of ‘background uncertainty’ about sources of value independent
