Occurrence of p-phenylenediamine antioxidants in human urine.

Science of the Total Environment
General populations are widely exposed to various p-phenylenediamine antioxidants (PPDs). N-(1,3-dimethylbutyl)-N'-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine (6PPD), a typical p-phenylenediamine antioxidant, has been detected in human urine samples.

P-phenylenediamine antioxidants and their quinone derivatives: A review of their environmental occurrence, accessibility, potential toxicity, and human exposure.

Science of the Total Environment
Substituted p-phenylenediamines (PPDs), a class of antioxidants, have been widely used to extend the lifespan of rubber products, such as tires and pipes. During use, PPDs will generate their quinone derivatives (PPD-Qs). In recent years, PPDs and PPD-Qs

Spectroscopic characteristics of a novel highly fluorescent p-phenylenediamine: Tetracyano-p-phenylenediamine

Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology A: Chemistry, 2008
Abstract We present here some of the physicochemical properties of tetracyano-p-phenylenediamine (TCPPD). This is the second highly fluorescent p-phenylenediamine (PPD) presented in the literature. The molecule emits with a very long lifetime (20 ns) and an oxygen insensitive high quantum yield (up to 0.9) for this class of molecules.

Characterizing the Metabolism of Tire Rubber-Derived p-Phenylenediamine Quinones to Identify Potential Exposure Biomarkers in Humans.

Environmental Science and Technology
There is growing evidence of the frequent detection of tire rubber-derived contaminants p-phenylenediamine-derived quinones (PPD-Qs) (e.g., highly toxic N-(1,3-dimethylbutyl)-N'-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine quinone (6PPD-Q)) in the environment and biota and

Enhancement of the catalytic activity of Pd nanoparticles in Suzuki coupling by partial functionalization of the reduced graphene oxide support with p-phenylenediamine and benzidine

Journal of Catalysis, 2020
This paper reports the development of novel supports for highly active Pd nanoparticles for room temperature Suzuki cross coupling reactions. The partial functionalization of the reduced graphene oxide support by the N-containing p-phenylenediamine and ...

Photolysis of p-phenylenediamine rubber antioxidants in aqueous environment: Kinetics, pathways and their photo-induced toxicity.

Journal of Hazardous Materials
The widespread use of rubber antioxidants, especially p-phenylenediamines (PPDs), has raised increasing concerns about their risk assessment. However, there is a notable lack of research on their transformation products (TPs).

Cytotoxicity of poly(p-phenylenediamine)

Chemical Papers, 2016
Although poly(p-phenylenediamine) is an electric non-conductor, it exhibits, analogously to conducting polymers, redox activity and could, therefore, find applications in biomedicine. In the current work, the cytotoxicity of poly(p-phenylenediamine) polymer powder produced by the chemical oxidation of p-phenylenediamine with ammonium peroxydisulfate in

Oxidative polymerization of p-phenylenediamine

Russian Journal of General Chemistry, 2014
Oxidative polymerization of p-phenylenediamine in a hydrochloric acid solution yields not a polyquinoxaline polymer as described in the literature but a modified poly(1,4-benzoquinonediimine-N,N′-diyl-1,4-phenylene) analogous to polyaniline known as pernigraniline. A new scheme of oxidative polymerization of p-phenylenediamine was suggested.

Investigating the redox behavior of activated carbon supercapacitors with hydroquinone and p-phenylenediamine dual redox additives in the electrolyte.

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2019
Activated carbon (AC) with large surface area and high electrical conductivity is widely applied on supercapacitors (SC), but the energy storage mechanism for the pure electrical double layer capacitor of carbon leads to a low energy density.
