To reveal the stress state within the Kumano basin, which overlies the Nankai accretionary prism, we estimated seismic anisotropy from walkaround vertical seismic profiling (VSP) data recorded at Site C0009 during Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP)

Spatiotemporal Characteristics of Reservoir-Induced Earthquakes Using P-Wave Velocity Structures
In this study, through the seismic phase observation report obtained by a river reservoir seismic network from September 2012 to July 2015, the joint inversion method of source and velocity structure is employed, combined with the regional seismic ...

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Robust Spot Melting by 3D Spot Arrangements in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion
This work proposes an approach to replace separately melted contours for spot melting in electron beam powder fusion. Adapting the spot arrangements close to the contour combined with stacking yields a comparable surface quality without the inherent challenges of separate contours, as demonstrated, by electron optical images and roughness measurements.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Evidence for a P‐wave velocity anomaly in D″
A number of strong P‐coda phases have been observed on European WWSSN‐station short‐period recordings of intermediate‐magnitude, Kurile arc earthquakes which occurred at several different depths of focus. These phases have been observed for several different events and cannot be explained by known phases, such as PcP or source multiplicity.

Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.
