The P300 (P3) event-related brain potential (ERP) was elicited with auditory stimuli in four different groups of normal, young adult subjects (n = 20 in each group) whose ERPs were obtained at different times of the year. P3 amplitude was largest during spring and summer and smaller for the subjects who were assessed during fall and winter.

30+ years of P300 brain-computer interfaces.
Psychophysiology, 2020Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) directly measure brain activity with no physical movement and translate the neural signals into messages. BCIs that employ the P300 event-related brain potential often have used the visual modality.

The effects of instructions to refrain from blinking on the P300 event-related brain potential (ERP) from auditory and visual stimuli were assessed. An oddball paradigm was employed in which young adult subjects (n = 20) silently counted the infrequent target stimuli and were given either no instructions or told "do not blink" in different conditions ...

The P300 is regarded as a psychosis endophenotype of schizophrenia and a putative biomarker of risk for schizophrenia. However, the brain activity (i.e., P300 amplitude) during tasks cannot always provide satisfying discrimination of patients with ...

The Farwell and Donchin matrix speller is well known as one of the highest performing brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) currently available. However, its use of visual stimulation limits its applicability to users with normal eyesight. Alternative BCI spelling systems which rely on non-visual stimulation, e.g.

This study demonstrates that operant conditioning may increase the P300 component of the event-related potential above a level obtained without contingent training. An experimental group of subjects was rewarded for producing large P300 amplitudes and was compared with a yoked control group which was rewarded on a random basis.

Light therapy in patients with seasonal affective disorder has been reported to enhance visual P300 amplitude. This findings raises the possibility that variations in P300 occur naturally in nonpatients as a function of seasonal variation in sunlight. In the present investigation, P300 was studied in a sample of psychiatrically screened normal subjects

P300 in detecting concealed information and deception: A review.
Psychophysiology, 2019Studies using the P300 ERP in detection of concealed information are reviewed. An overview of the initial findings, methodological issues, and use of bootstrapping methods for data analysis are considered, with various protocols explicated.

The P300 component was obtained from ten pairs of identical twins and matched control subjects with an auditory discrimination task. The event-related brain potentials (ERPs) from the identical twins were strikingly similar in amplitude and latency compared to control subject pairs. The data suggest that individual variations in ERP waveform morphology
