Residual stresses in P91 steel electron beam welds
Science and Technology of Welding and Joining, 2013This paper describes the characterisation of residual stress in electron beam welded P91 ferritic–martensitic steel plates (9 mm thick) by neutron diffraction and contour measurement methods. The novelty of the work lies in revealing the residual stress profile at a fine length scale associated with a ∼1 mm wide fusion zone.

Materials at High Temperatures, 1998
The 9%-12% Cr-steels are strategic materials for new power plant and for component substitution for plant life extension. One of these steels, P 91 was included in the project BE-1702 (HIDA) to provide crack initiation and growth data for the improvement and validation of procedures for high-temperature defect assessment.

Modelling thermo-mechanical cyclic behavior of P91 steel
International Journal of Plasticity, 2020Abstract In this paper, the analysis of the low cycle fatigue behavior of P91 steel is presented. First, experimental tests are performed to recognize different aspects of material behavior. Then an appropriate constitutive model is developed within the framework of thermodynamics of irreversible processes with internal state variables. Two different

Small punch testing of P91 steel
International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 2006Abstract Results of small punch tests on miniaturized thin discs of P91 steel are compared with relevant conventional tests on bulk specimens. Small punch tests under constant displacement rate were performed at room temperature and 873 K. The results were correlated with results of conventional stress–strain tests. Results of small punch tests under

Tensile work hardening behaviour of P91 steel
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2011Abstract The variation of instantaneous work hardening rate ( θ ) with plastic strain rate ( e ˙ p ) for P91 steel indicated that θ – e ˙ p plots can be represented by a single master curve for the temperature range 300–873 K.

Creep of Cast Steel P91 with Weld Joint
Materials Science Forum, 2014High-temperature martensitic steel P91, internationally marked GX12CrMoVNbN91, is the material used in the energy industry. Creep and high-temperature corrosion resistances are important properties that affect the application of this material at higher temperatures. Weldment reduces creep properties.

Thermomechanical Cyclic Properties of P91 Steel
2019The paper presents the results of low-cycle fatigue tests on P91 steel specimens, carried out under constant strain and constant stress conditions, in several test temperatures. The analysis of the experimental data indicates the influence of fatigue testing conditions on the fatigue life predictions based on the Ramberg-Osgood relationship, while the ...

Study on the softening mechanism of P91 steel
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2018Abstract Different tempering temperatures were designed to study on the softening mechanism of P91 steel. The variations in the microstructures and mechanical properties of the steel tempered at different temperatures were investigated. After tempered at the temperature below 790 °C, the microstructure of P91 steel mainly consisted of tempered lath ...

Simulation of dissimilar weld joints of steel P91
Science and Technology of Welding and Joining, 2004Results of computer simulations of long term service exposure for weldments of the CSN 15 128/P91 and SK3STC/P91 steels are presented and compared with corresponding results of phase and composition experiments. The welded material P91 (EU designation: X10CrMoVNb 9–1) represents progressive chromium steel alloyed with molybdenum, vanadium, carbon, and

Creep fracture mechanism in welded joints of P91 steel
Materials Science and Technology, 2013The creep rupture strength of the welded joint of P91 steel (9Cr–1Mo–V–Nb) is limited by that of the fine grained region of its heat affected zone (HAZ). The fine grained HAZ has the lowest creep rupture strength, and the creep voids are mostly concentrated in this region in comparison with the coarse grained HAZ, the weld metal and the base metal of ...
