Reducing the dietary starch:protein ratios in low-protein diets enhanced the growth performance of goslings from 1 to 28 days of age

open access: yesPoultry Science
The current study aimed to explore the suitable starch: protein ratios under different dietary protein levels for goslings. A total of 360 male 1-day-old Jiangnan White goslings were randomly divided into 6 groups with six replicates containing ten ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Spin and valley dependent transport and tunneling magnetoresistance in irradiated ferromagnetic WSe 2 double barrier junctions

open access: yesScientific Reports
Spin and valley polarizations (P s and P KK’ ) and tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) are demonstrated in the ferromagnetic/barrier/normal/barrier/ferromagnetic WSe2 junction, with the gate voltage and off-resonant circularly polarized light (CPL) applied

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

A highly efficient n‐CdS/p‐Ag2S/p+SnS thin film solar cell: Design and simulation

open access: yesEngineering Reports
AbstractSilver sulfide (Ag2S) chalcogenide compound can be a viable absorber in the applications of thin film solar cells owing to its optimum bandgap of 1.1 eV and high absorption coefficient. Herein, we propose a novel Ag2S‐based n‐CdS/p‐Ag2S/p+‐SnS double‐heterojunction solar cell.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Effects of perceived instructional support and self-regulated learning support on students' learning behavior in an online learning environment.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
Learning Analytics (LA) has advanced significantly in recent years; however, its findings often suffer from limited generalizability and transferability due to reliance on data from a small number of courses.
