P‐wave indices as predictors of atrial fibrillation

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology, 2020
Background P‐wave duration (PDURATION) and P‐wave area (PAREA) have been linked to risk of atrial fibrillation (AF), but they do not improve the efficacy of Framingham AF risk score. We suggest the incorporation of both variables in one index, the P‐wave

Construction of sea surface current vectors using a single HF radar: A theoretical study

open access: yesiScience, 2022
Summary: A technique called the stream and potential function method (SPFM) is presented to retrieve the sea surface current vector field from the radial-component measurements of only one high-frequency (HF) radar.

Effects of haemodialysis on maximum P wave duration and P wave dispersion [PDF]

open access: yesNephrology Dialysis Transplantation, 2002
Analysing a 12-lead surface electrocardiogram (ECG), the inter-lead variability of the P wave interval, i.e. P wave dispersion, is defined as the difference between the maximum and the minimum P wave duration. Our aim was to assess the effect of haemodialysis on P wave duration and dispersion in non-diabetic patients with end-stage renal failure on ...

Relationship of Fibrillatory Waves and P Waves in the Electrocardiogram [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 1966
The amplitude of the fibrillatory waves and the P terminal force were compared in 100 consecutive patients. These electrocardiographic measures of atrial activity were made first in atrial fibrillation and then after electrical conversion to sinus rhythm.

An interpretation of ion composition diurnal variation deduced from EISCAT observations [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2001
Physical interpretation is made of the O+/Ne diurnal variations in summer, revealed by Litvine et al. (1998) from the EISCAT observations. It is shown that the observed anti-correlation between the Z50 parameter, corresponding to the transition ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

P wave dispersion and maximum P wave duration are associated with renal outcomes in chronic kidney disease. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
P wave parameters measured by 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) are commonly used as a noninvasive tool to evaluate left atrial enlargement. This study was designed to assess whether P wave parameters were associated with renal outcomes in chronic kidney ...

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.
