P-wave dispersion and left atrial indices as predictors of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in patients

open access: yesThe Egyptian Heart Journal, 2014
Background: One-third of stroke and Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) are cryptogenic requiring additional investigation and intervention. Occult Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation (PAF) has been suggested as a possible cause for these cryptogenic strokes ...

Photoactivation of NV Centers in Diamond via Continuous Wave Laser Illumination of Shallow As‐Implanted Nitrogen

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an alternative method of creating charge‐stable negatively charged nitrogen vacancy (NV−) centers close to the diamond surface without high‐temperature annealing. By illuminating nitrogen‐implanted regions with a continuous‐wave 405 nm laser, NV− centers are induced, exhibiting electron spin coherence properties suitable for ...

Acoustic Logging Guided Waves In Transversely Isotropic Formations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
We have studied the velocity dispersion of guided waves in transversely isotropic formations. Theoretical velocity dispersion curves were calculated with elastic constants based on laboratory and field measurements and compared to dispersion curves for

Experimental and Theoretical Confirmation of Covalent Bonding in α‐Pu

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
From a combination of Reverse Monte Carlo dynamic rigid body fitting to the pair distribution functional and novel density functional approaches, the existence of covalent bonding is confirmed in α‐plutonium alongside other bonding types (i.e. mixed bonding schemes).

Hole Transfer Dynamics in Thin Films of Mixed‐Dimensional Quasi‐2D Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Charge transfer dynamics in quasi‐2D perovskite (PEA2MAn−1PbnI3n+1), grown with a distinct dimensionality gradient are investigated. Selective excitation of the n = 4 phase reveals efficient hole transfer to n = 2 and n = 3 within tens of picoseconds, while n = 1 acts as a hole‐blocking layer. These findings highlight the importance of minimizing n = 1
