Enhanced Retention, Drainage, and Strength of Old Corrugated Container Pulp Using Poly(aluminum chloride), Nanofibrillated Cellulose, and Hydrophobic Colloidal Silica Particles

open access: yesBioResources
The performance of the poly(aluminum chloride) (PAC)-nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC)-colloidal silica (SiO2) system was evaluated relative to the retention and drainage of old corrugated container (OCC) pulp.

A multimodal mutual information‐guided feature selection framework for predicting rehabilitation response in Parkinson's disease with postural instability and gait disorder

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Medicine, EarlyView.
A mutual information–guided sequential forward selection framework applied to multimodal baseline data identified key EEG and MRI features, which showed robust predictive performance across multiple machine learning models. Abstract Postural instability and gait disorder (PIGD) subtype of Parkinson's disease (PD) is marked by heterogeneous motor and ...

Pre‐Imaging Clinical Factors Associated With Cardiac MR Image Quality Using Large Language Model‐Enabled Data Extraction

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Poor cardiac MR image quality can prompt repeat examinations and hinder clinical decision‐making. Purpose To evaluate whether pre‐imaging clinical information, extracted using a large language model (LLM), is independently associated with cardiac MR image quality. Study Type Retrospective.

Patient Dose Optimisation of Abdominopelvic Protocols During X‐Ray Imaging

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
This study evaluates organ doses in abdominopelvic radiography for both erect and supine positions, addressing dose optimisation concerns in Ghana. Using CalDose X and thermoluminescence dosimeters, organ doses and image quality were analysed, revealing significant dose reductions with optimised exposure parameters (70 kVp, 10 mAs, 110 cm FDD).

Impact of 1024‐Matrix Size on Perforating Artery Visualisation in Cerebral Computed Tomography Angiography Using a 64‐Slice CT Scanner

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
This study investigated whether using a larger image matrix (1024 × 1024 pixels instead of 512 × 512) improves the visibility of tiny brain arteries on CT scans performed with standard 64‐slice scanners. While physical image quality measurements remained unchanged, the larger matrix provided finer digital sampling of blood vessel structures, resulting ...

IMPACT Requests: Evaluating the Effectiveness of IMPACT Education for Emergency Department Referrers to Improve the Quality of CT Requests

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
The use of IMPACT Requests criteria standards to educate Emergency Department referrers improves the quality of clinical information provided in CT chest, abdomen and multi‐trauma requests. The next phase of this project will investigate the impact of this improvement in request quality on the quality of resultant radiology reports.

Radiation Dose Optimisation Through Artificial Intelligence (AI)‐based Auto‐Thorax Collimation

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
This study evaluated AI‐based Auto‐Thorax Collimation (ATC) for radiation dose optimisation in posteroanterior chest radiography compared with manual collimation. ATC demonstrated tighter lateral collimation and reduced inter‐operator variability while maintaining comparable repeat rates.
