Instability of synchronized motion in nonlocally coupled neural oscillators

open access: yes, 2006
We study nonlocally coupled Hodgkin-Huxley equations with excitatory and inhibitory synaptic coupling. We investigate the linear stability of the synchronized solution, and find numerically various nonuniform oscillatory states such as chimera states ...

In-materio neuromimetic devices: Dynamics, information processing and pattern recognition

open access: yes, 2020
The story of information processing is a story of great success. Todays' microprocessors are devices of unprecedented complexity and MOSFET transistors are considered as the most widely produced artifact in the history of mankind.

Integrative Approach - New Level Knowledge of Functions: Opportunities and Prospects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this article, the example of the mechanisms of heart rhythmogenesis in the intact organism is used to demonstrate the new capabilities provided by an integrative approach. It is shown that the rhythm is formed in the brain, transmitted to the heart in

Synchronization interfaces and overlapping communities in complex networks

open access: yes, 2008
We show that a complex network of phase oscillators may display interfaces between domains (clusters) of synchronized oscillations. The emergence and dynamics of these interfaces are studied in the general framework of interacting phase oscillators ...

Initial dynamics of the EKG during an electrical defibrillation of the heart [PDF]

open access: yes
In tests on 11 mature dogs, immobilized by means of an automatic blocking and synchronization system, artefact free EKG were obtained, beginning 0.04-0.06 sec after passage of a defibrillating current. Different versions of the start of fibrillation were

Differential regulation of the Drosophila sleep homeostat by circadian and arousal inputs. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
One output arm of the sleep homeostat in Drosophila appears to be a group of neurons with projections to the dorsal fan-shaped body (dFB neurons) of the central complex in the brain.

The neurochemical basis of photic entrainment of the circadian pacemaker [PDF]

open access: yes
Circadian rhythmicity in mammals is controlled by the action of a light-entrainable hypothalamus, in association with two cell clusters known as the supra chiasmatic nuclei (SCN).

Problems of artificial pacemaker therapy.

open access: yesJapanese Circulation Journal, 1985
Four hundred and sixty-seven cases with implantation of an artificial pacemaker were studied. The postoperative survival rate was 63% for 15 years. Seventy-two percent of type III patients of the sick sinus syndrome were free from postoperative thromboembolism and the lowest of the three types of the sick sinus syndrome.
