Comparative outcomes and predictability of Contoura laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis, wavefront-optimized laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis, and photorefractive keratectomy: A retrospective analysis of visual recovery and pachymetric influence

open access: yesThe Pan-American Journal of Ophthalmology
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare visual and refractive outcomes of Contoura topography-guided laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK), wavefront-optimized (WFO) LASIK, and photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and to evaluate the ...

Effects of Exercise on Ocular Parameters and Oxidative Stress Biomarkers in Saliva and Tear Fluid of Horses

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
Submaximal exercise induced measurable oxidative responses in saliva and tear fluid of horses, while ocular parameters remained largely stable except for a mild reduction in tear secretion. Saliva and tear fluid may serve as practical, minimally invasive matrices for monitoring exercise‐associated physiological and oxidative responses in horses ...

Gellan Gum Fluid Gel System for Controlled‐Delivery of Cytokine‐Licensed MSC‐EVs to Enhance Corneal Repair in Limbal Stem Cell Deficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 29, 7 August 2026.
Gellan gum fluid gel (FG) enables controlled ocular delivery of mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC)‐derived extracellular vesicles (EV). Its shear‐thinning, solid‐liquid‐solid rheology ensures prolonged ocular retention. Sustained MSC‐EV release (∼18% in 6 hrs) supports effective EV ocular delivery.

Astigmatic changes after Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) in decompensated penetrating keratoplasty grafts

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 104, Issue 5, Page e516-e529, August 2026.
Abstract Purpose To evaluate the surgery‐induced changes of astigmatism after Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) in eyes with failed previous penetrating keratoplasty (PK). Design Retrospective, interventional cohort study based on prospective DMEK database.

Repeatability of keratometry depending on tear film osmolarity

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 104, Issue 5, Page e530-e537, August 2026.
Abstract Purpose To determine the repeatability of keratometry and astigmatism measurements of patients depending on the tear film osmolarity using three different devices. Methods In this study, 97 eyes of 97 patients with a mean age of 64.92 ± 12.07 years received three repeated measurements with the IOLMaster 700 (Carl Zeiss Meditec, Jena, Germany),

Loop myopexy with true muscle transplantation for very large angle heavy eye syndrome patient

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2015
A 42-year-old man presenting with complaints of squint for last 20 years. His visual acuity was 20/400 in right eye (RE) and 20/30 in left eye (LE) with glasses. His refraction was RE -16.75/-2.5 D cycl 180 and LE was -14.5/-1.5 D cycl 180.

Advanced keratoconus with very low pachymetry – Can contact lens avoid corneal surgery?

open access: yesTNOA Journal of Ophthalmic Science and Research, 2020
Clinical relevance: Keratoconic eyes with low pachymetric values, precluding safe CXL can show significant improvement in vision with newer scleral Contact lenses(CL), which was not possible with older rigid CLs.
