Influence of pacifier use on the association between duration of breastfeeding and anterior open bite in primary dentition

open access: yesBMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, 2020
Background The literature is controversial with regard to the association between longer breastfeeding duration and lower prevalence of anterior open bite. Pacifier use may be involved in this controversy.

‘Guide and Prejudice’— How Argonautes recognize targets across domains of life

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Argonaute proteins use short nucleic‐acid guides to locate and regulate specific targets across all domains of life. Despite striking diversity—from human gene silencing to bacterial immune defence—all Argonautes share a conserved three‐stage recognition logic: guide‐directed sampling, progressive target pairing with a conformational checkpoint and ...

Arginine methylation as a regulatory ratchet in cancer: From substrate selection to malignant‐state stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Arginine methylation can be viewed as a persistence‐prone post‐translational modification regulated by a network of PRMTs. Competitive and compensatory interactions among PRMTs can redistribute methylation across substrate pools shaped by sequence, structural, spatial, and environmental layers, reinforcing RNA‐processing, chromatin, and signaling ...

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome - risk factors and prevention

open access: yesJournal of Education, Health and Sport, 2019
SIDS - Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is a sudden, unexpected death of an infant during sleep, which can not be justified by a medical history or post-mortem examination.

Computational simulation of pacifier deformation and interaction with the palate

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, 2021
Objectives The objective of this study is to demonstrate that computational finite element models can be used to reliably simulate dynamic interaction between a pacifier, the palate, and the tongue during nonnutritive sucking (NNS).

Extracellular matrix remodeling and immune reprogramming drive residual tumor progression of liver cancer after incomplete microwave ablation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Incomplete microwave ablation (iMWA) of liver cancer triggers a biphasic progression in residual tumors. At Day 3, the microenvironment is characterized by acute inflammatory responses and extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling. By Day 14, a profound shift occurs toward oncogenic signal transduction and immunosuppression, marked by macrophage ...

Conformity between Pacifier Design and Palate Shape in Preterm and Term Infants Considering Age-Specific Palate Size, Facial Profile and Lip Thickness

open access: yesChildren, 2022
This retrospective case-control study is the first to examine the spatial conformity between pacifiers and palates in 39 preterm infants (12 females, 27 males) and 34 term infants (19 females, 15 males), taking into account the facial-soft-tissue profile

KDAC6 alters cell morphology and motility through positive and negative modulation of F‐actin distribution

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KDAC6 has been associated with cell motility and actin structures, but specific domain contributions are not established. The two catalytic domains have differential effects on motility and F‐actin regulation, affecting cortical F‐actin density, motility, stress fibers, and cell spreading.

Ventilated Pacifier

open access: yes, 2017
Pacifiers are considered a necessity in modern parenting. All babies are born knowing how to suck. This action soothes them, making a pacifier an ideal choice to calm an agitated child.

Heterotropic regulation and negative homotropic cooperativity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We identified a structural module common to some proteins that couple negative cooperativity with heterotropic regulation, two features that rarely coexist. These proteins are ring‐like and present an ordered asymmetry whereby noncontacting subunits are symmetric, and their tertiary structure differs from that of contacting subunits.
