Same-day discharge after atrial fibrillation ablation

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) catheter ablation has become an increasingly effective and safe strategy for the management of AF. With increased safety of catheter ablation, same-day discharge (SDD) is a potential way to minimize health care ...

IFN-γ enhances the efficacy of mesenchymal stromal cell-derived exosomes via miR-21 in myocardial infarction rats

open access: yesStem Cell Research & Therapy, 2022
Background Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) activated with IFN-γ elicit stronger physical effects. Exosomes (Exos) secreted from MSCs show protective effects against myocardial injury. This study aimed to determine whether Exos derived from IFN-γ-treated

Three-dimensional electroanatomic mapping characteristics of superior vena cava myocardial sleeve and sinoatrial node in patients with atrial fibrillation

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2022
BackgroundThree-dimensional activation mapping during sinus rhythm can demonstrate the earliest atrial activation (EAA) site, which could be the sinoatrial node (SAN). We aimed to compare the electroanatomical characteristics of superior vena cava (SVC),

Dynamics of conduction blocks in a model of paced cardiac tissue [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We study numerically the dynamics of conduction blocks using a detailed electrophysiological model. We find that this dynamics depends critically on the size of the paced region. Small pacing regions lead to stationary conduction blocks while larger pacing regions can lead to conduction blocks that travel periodically towards the pacing region. We show

Trigonometric inequalities and the Riemann zeta-function [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
We very slightly improve the leading constant of the (currently best) proven asymptotic zero-free region of the Riemann zeta-function, by using an easy improvement to a trigonometric polynomial.

Balanced Self-Paced Learning for AUC Maximization [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Learning to improve AUC performance is an important topic in machine learning. However, AUC maximization algorithms may decrease generalization performance due to the noisy data. Self-paced learning is an effective method for handling noisy data. However, existing self-paced learning methods are limited to pointwise learning, while AUC maximization is ...

Expression and purification of E140 protein antigen fragments of Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium berghei for serological assays

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We provide a step‐by‐step guide for producing E140 antigen fragments from Plasmodium berghei (Pb1) and Plasmodium vivax (Pv1). Pb1/Pv1 are expressed in E. coli, solubilized by freeze–thawing, refolded by slow dilution, purified by affinity chromatography (IMAC), then concentrated and subjected to quality control.

Self-supervised Video Representation Learning by Pace Prediction [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
This paper addresses the problem of self-supervised video representation learning from a new perspective -- by video pace prediction. It stems from the observation that human visual system is sensitive to video pace, e.g., slow motion, a widely used technique in film making.

Piezo1 channels enhance anabolic signaling activation induced by electrical stimulation of cultured myotubes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
By using an electrical pulse stimulation (EPS)‐based in vitro exercise model and chemical activation/inhibition of mechanosensitive Piezo1 channels, we explored changes in protein synthetic response in cultured C2C12 myotubes. Our data showed that application of Piezo1 activator (Yoda1) during EPS significantly enhances the rate of protein synthesis in
