Codepositing elements by halide-activated pack cementation
JOM, 1991The codeposition of two or more elements in a halide-activated cementation pack is inherently difficult because of large differences in the thermodynamic stabilities for their volatile halides. However, through a computer-assisted analysis of the pack equilibria, combinations of suitable master alloys and activator salts can be identified.

Applied Surface Science, 2004Abstract The exposition of metallic materials to high temperature environments leads to their corrosion because of oxidation or sulphidation. One way to protect such materials is to produce an Al 2 O 3 layer which needs to be continuous enough to limit diffusion of oxygen or metallic elements, and withstand this corrosion.

A study on characterization of pack-cemented aluminide coating on metals
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2008Abstract In this paper sample of Ni, plain steel and Cr-steel are pack cemented by Al 2 O 3 powder. The specimens were then isostatic oxidation tested. Using SEM and EPMA, the aluminide layers of samples are characterized and the rates of corrosion in the different samples are evaluated.
