The kinetics of multilayered titanium-silicide coatings grown by the pack cementation method

Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 1995
The halide-activated, pack cementation coating method is a viable technique for forming silicide diffusion coatings that provide oxidation resistance for titanium alloys at high temperature. In this study, growth rates were determined for the five-layered silicide coatings on commercially pure titanium grown at 950 ‡C, 1050 ‡C, and 1150 ‡C using three ...

A One-Step Pack Cementation Method for Preparing AlN/Aluminizing Coating with Good Corrosion Resistance

Solid State Phenomena, 2019
AlN/aluminizing coating with good corrosion resistance on carbon steel was prepared by one-step powder pack method. The phase compositions were analyzed by X-Ray diffraction spectrum (XRD). The cross-sections were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with an energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS). According the analysis above,

New manufacturing method for Fe-Si magnetic powders using modified pack-cementation process

Metals and Materials International, 2013
This paper describes a new method for making Fe-Si magnetic powders using a pack-cementation process. It was found that Fe-Si alloy powders were formed by a reaction of the pack mixture of Fe, Si, NaF, and Al2O3 powders at 900 °C for 24 h under a hydrogen atmosphere.

Mn coating on AISI 430 ferritic stainless steel by pack cementation method for SOFC interconnect applications

Solid State Ionics, 2011
Abstract Protective/conductive coatings that resist oxide scale growth and reduce chromium migration and evaporation are required to make stainless steel interconnect materials for long-term durable operation of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). To accomplish this, the interconnect can be coated by special spinels for their higher conductivity. In this

Rare-earth modified chromium-aluminide coatings applied by pack cementation method on low-alloy steels

Journal of Materials Science, 1996
In metallurgical practice the presence of a minor amount of certain elements can induce significant changes in a material's physical, mechanical and chemical properties. In this paper we present the nature, morphology and properties of protective coatings containing Cr, Al and minor amounts of a rare earth element, applied on 2.25 Cr-1 Mo low-alloy ...
