2014 IEEE Vehicular Networking Conference (VNC), 2014
This work is dedicated to a live video streaming in vehicular networks where the application-based inter-packet forward error correction is used for the packet loss protection. A practical way to apply such a protection at the video encoder side for the unknown channel loss rate is proposed.

Transmission over real-world networks will occasionally suffer from transmission errors, which can significantly deteriorate the perceived quality of a speech codec. This chapter addresses the problem of transmission errors in packet based voice applications, such as voice over Internet protocol (VoIP).

Optimal Control with Random Packet Losses
2006 International Conference on Communications, Circuits and Systems, 2006Optimal control design with random packet losses is presented in this paper. In a large multihop sensor network, the controllers and the plants usually communicate via unreliable wireless channels, and the algebraic Riccati equation becomes stochastic because of the random packet losses.

Packet loss process under bounded delay
2010 International Conference on High Performance Switching and Routing, 2010This paper analyzes the loss process distribution of a finite buffer queue. In contrast to the previous work that assumed the buffer can merely store finite number of packets, our model adopts the bounded delay policy where only the packet arrival finding its delay not exceeding a preset value is admitted into the buffer.

Packet loss rate differentiation in slotted optical packet switched networks
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2005This letter presents a packet loss rate (PLR) differentiation scheme suitable for slotted optical packet switched networks. An analytical model of the proposed scheme is presented and expressions for the PLRs are derived for a multiclass scenario. We also show that the use of the proposed scheme does not result in any reductions in the average switch ...

Study of packet loss in a packet switched voice system
IEEE International Conference on Communications, - Spanning the Universe., 2003A study is presented of the temporal behavior of packet loss on a voice-transmitted TDM time-division multiplexed link. The mean duration is given of blocking and nonblocking periods, the variance of blocking periods, and the expected packet. The loss rate within blocking periods is derived.

On-line Packet Loss Rate Estimation
2005 IEEE 16th International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2006A key requirement for ease of migration from legacy to ambient networks is the elimination of dependencies between functionalities. Currently, in the case of designs for QoS and mobility in IP networks, it is apparent that there is a strong coupling between the two functions.

Characterizing Packet Losses in Vehicular Networks
IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2019To enable testing and performance evaluation of new connected and autonomous driving functions, it is important to characterize packet losses caused by degradation in vehicular (V2X) communication channels. In this paper we suggest an approach to constructing packet loss models based on the so-called Pseudo-Markov chains (PMC).
