Packet Scheduling in Switches with Target Outflow Profiles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
The problem of packet scheduling for traffic streams with target outflow profiles traversing input queued switches is formulated in this paper. Target outflow profiles specify the desirable inter-departure times of packets leaving the switch from each traffic stream.

Characterization of wavelength tunable lasers for future optical communication systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The use of tunable lasers (TL) in dense wavelength division multiplexed (DWDM) networks for optical switching, routing and networking has gained a lot of interest in recent years.

In‐Situ Growth of 2D MOFs as a Molecular Sieving Layer on SnS2 Nanoflakes for Realizing Ultraselective H2S Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
The ultraselective H2S detection of the ZIF‐L/SnS2 heterostructure is demonstrated. The introduction of 2‐dimensional (2D) breathable ZIF‐L results in a substantial increase in H2S selectivity attributable to the molecular sieving effect, which impedes the permeation of gases with large kinetic diameters and high polarity.

Fuzzy-Based Adaptive Hybrid Burst Assembly Technique for Optical Burst Switched Networks

open access: yesJournal of Computer Networks and Communications, 2014
The optical burst switching (OBS) paradigm is perceived as an intermediate switching technology for future all-optical networks. Burst assembly that is the first process in OBS is the focus of this paper.

DyCaPPON: Dynamic Circuit and Packet Passive Optical Network (Extended Version) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Dynamic circuits are well suited for applications that require predictable service with a constant bit rate for a prescribed period of time, such as cloud computing and e-science applications. Past research on upstream transmission in passive optical networks (PONs) has mainly considered packet-switched traffic and has focused on optimizing packet ...

Conducting Polymer Microelectrode Arrays for Simultaneous Electrophysiology and Advanced Brain Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible micro‐electrocorticography array with PEDOT:SS electrodes is shown to be compatible with ultra‐high magnetic field MRI up to 9.4 T. Multimodal brain monitoring is demonstrated by performing simultaneous blood oxygen level‐dependent functional MRI in parallel with electrophysiology.

The Mathematical Parallels Between Packet Switching and Information Transmission [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2006
All communication networks comprise of transmission systems and switching systems, even though they are usually treated as two separate issues. Communication channels are generally disturbed by noise from various sources. In circuit switched networks, reliable communication requires the error-tolerant transmission of bits over noisy channels. In packet

On the Efficiency of Packet Telephony [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
This paper presents a study on the efficiency of packet switching in providing toll quality telephone services. Packet switching is appealing for the implementation of a commercial telephone network because it features lower cost and higher manageability

NaI revisited: Theoretical investigation of predissociation via ultrafast XUV transient absorption spectroscopy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Avoided crossings can trigger abrupt changes of electronic character and redirect the outcomes of photochemical reactions. Here, we report a theoretical investigation into core-level spectroscopic probing of predissociation dynamics of sodium iodide (NaI)

Bioresorbable and Wireless Rechargeable Implanted Na‐ion Battery for Temporary Medical Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐solid‐state bioresorbable Na‐ion battery is developed, composed entirely of bio‐eliminable materials. In vivo and ex vivo tests confirmed harmless disintegration of this implanted battery. Lifetime of the implanted battery can be precisely controlled by adjusting the dissolvable encapsulation layer's thickness.
