Experimental Validation of an Immune Cell Infiltration Signature in Psoriasis: Translating Computational Modeling to In Vivo Efficacy

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
We calculated the infiltration profiles of 28 immune cells within psoriatic immune microenvironment through single‐sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) algorithm based on the eleven psoriasis related microarray datasets. Five immune‐related genes CXCL8, CXCL9, CCL18, RGS1, and SAMSN1 are associated with psoriasis, and establish a predictive ...

Sorption of pharmaceutically active compounds to sandy soils: Effects of compound and soil properties

open access: yesGeoderma
In this study, batch experiments were conducted to evaluate the sorption behavior of 23 pharmaceutically active compounds (PACs) onto four sandy soils that vary in their organic matter (SOM) and cation-exchange capacity (CEC).

Would you civil union me? Civil unions and taxes in France: Did the reform of income taxation raise the rate of civil unions? [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper looks whether the choice to contract a civil union is motivated by fiscal reasons. Since 1999, in France, different-sex couples can contract either a marriage or a civil union, called a pacs. It is a new legal form of union, more flexible than

Non‐Subtractive Arterial Spin Labeling‐Based (NSASL) Renal Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA): Development and Clinical Feasibility Evaluation

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Non‐contrast renal MR angiography (MRA) is valuable for patients who cannot receive contrast agents or when avoiding radiation is desired. However, the conventional inflow inversion recovery (IFIR) method is limited by incomplete background suppression, venous contamination, and motion sensitivity.

Quantitative Real‐Time MRI for the Assessment of Gastric Motility

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Current reference standards for measuring gastric emptying and motility are not considered optimal due to the time required, ionizing radiation, invasiveness, and spatial resolution. Purpose To assess gastric motility using novel real‐time dynamic magnetic resonance imaging in combination with static measurements for gastric ...

Towards Clinical Translation of Intravoxel Incoherent Motion MRI: Acquisition and Analysis Consensus Recommendations

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) MRI allows for simultaneous assessment of tissue microcirculation (perfusion) and diffusion of water. In single‐center studies, IVIM has shown great potential for diagnosis, treatment outcome prediction, and treatment monitoring for many different diseases and organs.

Handling qualities of a wide-body transport airplane utilizing Pitch Active Control Systems (PACS) for relaxed static stability application [PDF]

open access: yes
Piloted simulation studies have been conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of two pitch active control systems (PACS) on the flying qualities of a wide-body transport airplane when operating at negative static margins.

Patient Dose Optimisation of Abdominopelvic Protocols During X‐Ray Imaging

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
This study evaluates organ doses in abdominopelvic radiography for both erect and supine positions, addressing dose optimisation concerns in Ghana. Using CalDose X and thermoluminescence dosimeters, organ doses and image quality were analysed, revealing significant dose reductions with optimised exposure parameters (70 kVp, 10 mAs, 110 cm FDD).

Radiation Dose and Risk in the Radiological Investigation of Suspected Non‐Accidental Injury (NAI)

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
This study is a retrospective analysis of 362 skeletal surveys performed over a 5‐year period for children under 5 years of age for suspected non‐accidental injury. We present effective dose data and the associated risks of radiation exposure for initial and follow‐up examinations.

The biological functions of proanthocyanidin and its application in pig production

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
Proanthocyanidins (PACs) are natural polyphenolic compounds widely distributed in various plants, which are mixtures of oligomers and polymers formed by the polymerization of different numbers of catechins and epicatechins.
