Accurate simulation of ice and snow runoff for the mountainous terrain of the Kunlun Mountains, China [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
While mountain runoff provides great potential for the development and life quality of downstream populations, it also frequently causes seasonal disasters.

Dry deposition of ammonia around paddy fields in the subtropical hilly area in southern China

open access: yesAtmospheric and Oceanic Science Letters, 2020
This study measured the ammonia (NH3) concentration and dry deposition within 100 m around paddy fields (0.6 ha) with double rice cropping in the subtropical hilly area in southern China, with the aims to quantify the dry deposition of NH3 around the ...

HSPF-Paddy Development for Simulating Pollutant Loadings from Paddy Fields

open access: yesJournal of The Korean Society of Agricultural Engineers, 2005
The Hydrological Simulation Program - FORTRAN (HSPF) was modified to simulate nonpoint pollutant loadings from paddy fields using a field experimental data collected during 2001-2002. The concept of a `dike height` was added in a modified HSPF code, named HSPF-Paddy, to consider the function of retaining water by a weir at the field outlet.

Water-saving irrigation mitigates methane emissions from paddy fields: The role of iron

open access: yesAgricultural Water Management
Iron (Fe) and methane (CH4) emissions play crucial roles in the carbon cycling of paddy field ecosystems. However, little is known about the effect and mechanism of Fe transformation on the CH4 emission from paddy fields, especially with different water ...

ANALISIS BEBERAPA SIFAT KIMIA TANAH PADA DUA MACAM PENGGUNAAN LAHAN DI SUNGAI KAKAP, KABUPATEN KUBU RAYA, KALIMANTAN BARAT

open access: yesJTSL (Jurnal Tanah dan Sumberdaya Lahan)
Paddy fields and mixed farming apply intensive agricultural cultivation, and sustainable land use causes changes in land quality, one of which affects soil chemical properties. This study aimed to compare soil chemical properties based on differences in

Modeling the effect of rainfall intensity on soil‐water nutrient exchange in flooded rice paddies and implications for nitrate fertilizer runoff to the Oita River in Japan

open access: yesWater Resources Research, 2014
This paper examines the effect of rainfall intensity on nutrient exchange at the soil‐water interface of rice paddy fields and the implications to nitrate runoff to the Oita River. The Oita River Basin on Kyushu Island in Japan covers 650 km2 of which 11%

CH4 and N2O emissions and their potential control by rice biomass biochar: The case of continuously flooded paddy fields in Indonesia - A review [PDF]

open access: yesOne Ecosystem
Methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O) are the two most important greenhouse gases (GHG) from flooded paddy fields in Indonesia. This review aims to characterise CH4 and N2O emissions from flooded paddy fields by published data analysis and to examine the

Heat Exchange in a Paddy Field

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Meteorology, 1962
In order to see characteristics of the heat exchange in paddy field, micro-meteorological observation was made in and above the field, and heat balance was estimated at the upper surface of plant layer and soil surface.Heat balance at the upper surface is represented by the equationR1=F1+l·E1+G+l·Z·dχ/dt+M·C·dθ/dt+λ·P(1)where R1 is net incoming ...

Agent-based modeling on interaction between water and labor availability in rainfed rice ecosystem, northeast Thailand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
An Agent-Based Model (ABM) was co-designed with local rice farmers to represent the human-environment interactions between land/water use and labor management. A rainfed area of Ubon Ratchathani Province, Thailand was the study site.
