Bacterial Swarms Recruit Cargo Bacteria To Pave the Way in Toxic Environments [PDF]
Swarming bacteria are challenged by the need to invade hostile environments. Swarms of the flagellated bacterium Paenibacillus vortex can collectively transport other microorganisms.

This study identified soil‐derived Bacillus and Paenibacillus strains with broad‐spectrum antimicrobial activity, including 97% inhibition of CREs by Paenibacillus profundus. Genome mining revealed biosynthetic gene clusters (NRPSs, PKSs, RiPPs) linked to antimicrobial production, highlighting their potential in combating antibiotic resistance. Created

Biosorption of Copper by Paenibacillus polymyxa Cells and their Exopolysaccharide
Biosorption of heavy metals by gram-positive, non-pathogenic and non-toxicogenic Paenibacillus polymyxa P13 was evaluated. Copper was chosen as a model element because it is a pollutant originated from several industries. An EPS (exopolysaccharide)-producing phenotype exhibited significant Cu(II) biosorption capacity. Under optimal assay conditions (pH

Inhibition of RNase to Attenuate Fungal‐Manipulated Rhizosphere Microbiome and Diseases
Fusarium graminearum uses its virulence effector Fg12, a fungal RNase, to manipulate the host rhizosphere microbiome and promote infection. Guanosine monophosphate (GMP) blocks Fg12's RNase activity. This reveals a key pathogen‐microbiota interaction mechanism and proposes GMP as a targeted strategy to disarm this core fungal effector, offering a ...

Foam Formation in Shake Flasks and Its Consequences
ABSTRACT Foam formation in stirred tank fermentation processes is a well‐studied phenomenon. However, foaming in shake flask cultivations is rarely considered. Non‐baffled shake flasks, in particular, are generally considered to prevent foaming problems. However, under certain process conditions, foaming in non‐baffled shake flasks can occur.
