Optimal concentration of organic solvents to be used in the broth microdilution method to determine the antimicrobial activity of natural products against Paenibacillus larvae [PDF]
American Foulbrood (AFB) is a bacterial disease, caused by Paenibacillus larvae, that affects honeybees (Apis mellifera). Alternative strategies to control AFB are based on the treatment of the beehives with antimicrobial natural substances such as ...

This study investigates the physiological responses of Anabaena sp. PCC 7120 to HCH isomers, emphasizing both its tolerance to these compounds and its ability to biodegrade them. The findings support the potential application of Anabaena in the bioremediation of environments contaminated with specific HCH isomers.

Paenibacillus silagei sp. nov. isolated from corn silage
A Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped, endospore-forming bacterium, strain LOOC204T, was isolated from corn silage that had been prepared and stored in Hokkaido, Japan. The isolate grew well at 4-37 °C and at pH 6.0-8.5. The major cellular fatty acids were anteiso-C15 : 0, C16 : 0, iso-C14 : 0 and iso-C16 : 0.

Nonribosomal peptides, key biocontrol components for Pseudomonas fluorescens In5, isolated from a Greenlandic suppressive soil. [PDF]
UnlabelledPotatoes are cultivated in southwest Greenland without the use of pesticides and with limited crop rotation. Despite the fact that plant-pathogenic fungi are present, no severe-disease outbreaks have yet been observed.

Rhodococcus aetherivorans BCP1 as cell factory for the production of intracellular tellurium nanorods under aerobic conditions [PDF]
Background: Tellurite (TeO32-) is recognized as a toxic oxyanion to living organisms. However, mainly anaerobic or facultative-anaerobic microorganisms are able to tolerate and convert TeO32- into the less toxic and available form of elemental Tellurium (

Paenibacillus gyeongsangnamensis sp. nov., Isolated from Soil
A Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, white-coloured, rod-shaped bacteria, designated as a strain dW9T, was isolated from soil. Strain dW9T was catalase-positive and oxidase-negative. Strain dW9T grew at temperature of 20-37°C and at pH of 5.0-7.0. Phylogenetic and 16S rRNA gene analysis indicated that strain dW9T belonged to the genus Paenibacillus with its
