Ethanol production by a Paenibacillus species isolated from an Icelandic hot spring: Production yields from complex biomass [PDF]
Ethanol production using Paenibacillus strain J2 was studied on carbohydrates and lignocellulosic biomass hydrolysates including grass (Phleum pratense) and barley straw (Hordeum vulgare).

Abstract Advancements in biofuel production technologies are essential for reducing global dependence on fossil fuels and addressing their overexploitation. Many valuable components of biomass, such as cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, remain underused in traditional biorefineries, which typically rely on a single feedstock to produce a primary ...

Paenibacillus wooponensis sp. nov., isolated from wetland freshwater [PDF]
A rod-shaped, endospore-forming, Gram-reaction-positive bacterium, designated strain WPCB018T, was isolated from a fresh water sample collected from Woopo wetland, Korea. The isolate was identified as a member of the genus Paenibacillus on the basis of phenotypic characteristics and phylogenetic inference based on 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis.

Characterization of Hexenuronosyl Xylan-degrading Enzymes Produced by Paenibacillus sp. 07
The enzyme involved in hexenuronic acid (HexA) removal from kraft pulp was identified in Paenibacillus sp. strain 07. Extracellular and intracellular enzymes of Paenibacillus sp. were assessed for their hexenuronosyl-xylotriose (∆X3) degradation activity.

Effect of bacterial inoculation, plant genotype and developmental stage on root-associated and endophytic bacterial communities in potato (Solanum tuberosum) [PDF]
Beneficial bacteria interact with plants by colonizing the rhizosphere and roots followed by further spread through the inner tissues, resulting in endophytic colonization.

Paenibacillus luteus sp. nov., isolated from soil
A novel Gram-stain-positive, strictly aerobic, motile, spore-forming and rod-shaped bacterial strain, designated R-3T, was isolated from a soil sample obtained from the shore of Lake Panyang, Sichuan Province, PR China. Strain R-3T hydrolysed starch and casein.
