The “Troglopagurus Group” of Diogenes (Decapoda: Anomura: Paguroidea: Diogenidae) Revisited [PDF]
Abstract Ambiguity in the purported diagnostic attributes utilized to identify species of the poorly known “Troglopagurus group” of the hermit crab genus Diogenes prompted a review and critical reassessment of the morphological characters used to differentiate the nine recorded taxa.

The Panama grunt is an abundant and commercially important species in the southeastern Gulf of California, but the research undertaken on this species is scarce despite its ecological and economic importance. We studied the feeding habits of Panama grunt through stomach content analyses as a first step towards understanding the biology of this species ...

Identity of Pagurus watasei (Crustacea: Decapoda: Anomura: Paguroidea)
The diogenid hermit crab taxon Dardanus watasei (Terao, 1913) has been suggested to be a possible junior synonym of D. scutellatus (H. Milne Edwards, 1848). Re-examination of the holotype and three additional specimens referred to the taxon Pagurus watasei by Terao himself, however, has shown that it is conspecific with Dardanus aspersus (Berthold ...

Repeated hurricane disturbance has minimal impact on shallow coastal infaunal communities
Abstract Disturbances are important drivers of seafloor community structure and diversity, especially in sediment infaunal communities with limited mobility. Shallow coastal sediment communities contribute to global nutrient cycling and carbon storage but also experience large‐scale disturbances, including storms.

This study provides the first evidence of dietary partitioning of three common pseudochromid species in the Red Sea using a combination of (i) visual stomach content analysis, (ii) stomach content DNA metabarcoding (18S, COI), and (iii) stable isotope analysis (δ15N, δ13C). Our results revealed that Pseudochromis flavivertex, P.
