Osteoclast‐Derived SLIT3 Mediates Osteoarthritis Pain and Degenerative Changes
In TMJ‐OA, osteoclasts play a significant role in promoting the growth of sensory nerves at the osteochondral interface. In early OA, TRAP+ osteoclast‐derived SLIT3 induces sensory nerve growth into the condylar cartilage. This nerve growth facilitates the development of pain associated with OA.

Contextual fear conditioning induces BNIP3L‐dependent mitochondrial fission in glutamatergic neurons of the BLA, independently of mitophagy. Loss of BNIP3L elevates Drp1Ser637 phosphorylation, thereby suppressing mitochondrial fission, compromising ATP production, and attenuating excitatory synaptic transmission.

Schematic model showing the suggested mechanism that ZA induces classical activation of macrophages by impairing mitochondrial biofunction and inhibiting mitochondrial clearance to contribute to the pathological process of BRONJ. RAPA‐loaded nanoparticles ZDPR has shown potential in alleviating BRONJ lesions as well as treating osteoporosis or ...

Experimental changes in pain threshold and severe pain threshold for electrically induced pain
Journal of Psychosomatic Research, 1990Pain and severe pain thresholds were measured in groups of 15 (Experiment 1) and 20 (Experiment 2) normal volunteers. In Experiment 1, the subjects underwent a series of ten constant level, painful stimuli each of 10 sec duration at an arbitrarily chosen level between the thresholds. This level was recorded.

Behavioral Measures of Pain Thresholds
Current Protocols in Mouse Biology, 2011AbstractPain afflicts a fifth of the population, and animal models have proven useful in target validation and analgesic drug development. Thresholds to pain are tested by applying a sensory stimulus, such as heat or pressure, and observing the resulting withdrawal behavior.
