Model pluralism for logic

open access: yesNoûs, Volume 60, Issue 1, Page 136-160, March 2026.
Abstract It is well‐recognized in the sciences that a multitude of nonequivalent models are used by researchers to fulfill a range of goals, even for the same target system, a result known broadly as model pluralism. The possibility of the same form of pluralism occurring in logic, however, has not been adequately considered.

Simplification of exponential factors of irregular connections on P1${\mathbb {P}}^1$

open access: yesBulletin of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 58, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract We give an explicit algorithm to reduce the ramification order of any exponential factor of an irregular connection on P1$\mathbb {P}^1$, using the same types of basic operations as in the Katz–Deligne–Arinkin algorithm for rigid irregular connections.

An Analysis of the Lie Symmetry and Conservation Law of a Variable-Coefficient Generalized Calogero–Bogoyavlenskii–Schiff Equation in Nonlinear Optics and Plasma Physics

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, the symmetries and conservation laws of a variable-coefficient generalized Calogero–Bogoyavlenskii–Schiff (vcGCBS) equation are investigated by modeling the propagation of long waves in nonlinear optics, fluid dynamics, and plasma physics.

On moments of the derivative of CUE characteristic polynomials and the Riemann zeta function

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 113, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract We study the derivative of the characteristic polynomial of N×N$N \times N$ Haar‐distributed unitary matrices. We obtain new explicit formulae for complex‐valued moments when the spectral variable is inside the unit disc, in the limit N→∞$N \rightarrow \infty$.

Nonlinear Dynamical Analysis of a Diffusion-Driven Bacterial Density Model: Integrability and Bifurcation Analysis

open access: yesMathematics
This work investigates the dynamical properties of the Kolmogorov–Petrovskii–Piskunov (KPP) equation. We begin by establishing its non-integrability through the Painlevé test.

Remarks on holographic models of the Kerr-AdS5 geometry

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We study the low-temperature limit of scalar perturbations of the Kerr-AdS5 black-hole for generic rotational parameters. We motivate the study by considering real-time holography of small black hole backgrounds.

Unitary ensembles with a critical edge point, their multiplicative statistics, and the Korteweg‐de‐Vries hierarchy

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 113, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract We study the multiplicative statistics associated to the limiting determinantal point process describing eigenvalues of unitary random matrices with a critical edge point, where the limiting eigenvalue density vanishes like a power 5/2. We prove that these statistics are governed by the first three equations of the Korteweg‐de‐Vries (KdV ...

Paul Painlevé

open access: yes, 2019
Painlevé est un homme de gauche, mais il n’adhère ni à la SFIO, ni au parti radical. Comment percer à l’heure où les partis s’imposent ? Painlevé est un pacifiste, mais il est à neuf reprises ministre de la Guerre.

Analytic Investigation of a Generalized Variable-Coefficient KdV Equation with External-Force Term

open access: yesMathematics
This paper investigates integrable properties of a generalized variable-coefficient Korteweg–de Vries (gvcKdV) equation incorporating dissipation, inhomogeneous media, and an external-force term.
