Unbending strategies shepherd cooperation and suppress extortion in spatial populations
Evolutionary game dynamics on networks typically consider the competition among simple strategies such as cooperation and defection in the Prisoner’s Dilemma and summarize the effect of population structure as network reciprocity.

An approximate search algorithm for the student-internship allocation problem
This paper proposes an approximate search algorithm to solve the student-internship allocation problem. The key idea of the algorithm is that in each iteration, each student unassigned to an enterprise will be assigned to an enterprise where the student

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Pair approximation allows for a quantitative description of spatial systems.
(A) Pair approximation assumes that a system of entities living in space and interacting with others close by (left side) can be fully described by tracking the number of all pairwise links between entities (right side). For example, a link counted in NX←

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Mathematical and Numerical Analysis of a Pair of Coupled Cahn-Hilliard Equations with a Logarithmic Potential [PDF]
Mathematical and numerical analysis has been undertaken for a pair of coupled Cahn-Hilliard equations with a logarithmic potential and with homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions. This pair of coupled equations arises in a phase separation model of thin

Self-Diffusion in Liquid Copper, Silver, and Gold
The recently developed by us semi-analytical representation of the mean spherical approximation in conjunction with the linear trajectory approximation is applied to the quantitative study of self-diffusivities in liquid Cu, Ag and Au at different ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Improved Combinatorial Approximations for Weighted Correlation Clustering [PDF]
We present combinatorial approximation algorithms for the weighted correlation clustering problem. In this problem, we have a set of vertices and two weight values for each pair of vertices, denoting their difference and similarity.
