A collaborative approach to learning programming: a hybrid learning model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The use of cooperative working as a means of developing collaborative skills has been recognised as vital in programming education. This paper presents results obtained from preliminary work to investigate the effectiveness of Pair Programming as a ...

Applicative Bidirectional Programming with Lenses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A bidirectional transformation is a pair of mappings between source and view data objects, one in each direction. When the view is modified, the source is updated accordingly with respect to some laws.

Program quality with pair programming in CS1 [PDF]

open access: yesACM SIGCSE Bulletin, 2004
Prior research on pair programming has found that compared to students who work alone, students who pair have shown increased confidence in their work, greater success in CS1, and greater retention in computer-related majors. In these earlier studies, pairing and solo students were not given the same programming assignments.

The anti‐CRISPR protein AcrIE8.1 inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system by directly binding to the Cascade subunit Cas11

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

Reformulations of mathematical programming problems as linear complementarity problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
A family of complementarity problems are defined as extensions of the well known Linear Complementarity Problem (LCP). These are (i.) Second Linear Complementarity Problem (SLCP) which is an LCP extended by introducing further equality restrictions and ...

Is AI the better programming partner? Human-Human Pair Programming vs. Human-AI pAIr Programming

open access: yes, 2023
The emergence of large-language models (LLMs) that excel at code generation and commercial products such as GitHub's Copilot has sparked interest in human-AI pair programming (referred to as "pAIr programming") where an AI system collaborates with a human programmer.

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Embedding Gamification Elements in Distributed Pair Programming (DPP): A Conceptual Framework

open access: yesJournal of Computing Research and Innovation, 2018
This paper discusses a conceptual model of a web system for distributed pair programming (DPP) that involves the use of gamification elements as the new feature of the system.
