Salt‐induced nutritional and metabolic shifts in halophytes: implications for food security
Abstract Plant species vary in their response to salinity: some crops show a degree of salt tolerance, while halophytes – whether wild or cultivated – are characterized by a high capacity to thrive under saline conditions. Halophytes are considered a source of valuable secondary metabolites with potential economic value, yet they might also produce ...

myo‐Inositol's role in laying hens’ active gastrointestinal microbiota: a strain comparison
Abstract BACKGROUND myo‐Inositol (MI) is a cyclitol involved in cellular metabolism and phytate degradation, yet its influence on the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) microbiota of laying hens remains poorly understood. This study investigated the effects of graded dietary MI supplementation on the active GIT microbial communities of two commercial laying ...

Recovery of great blue herons (Ardea herodias) within the Chesapeake Bay
We surveyed great blue herons throughout the tidal reach of the Chesapeake Bay in 2013 and mapped 423 colonies supporting 15,094 pairs. The population has increased more than four‐fold since the mid‐1970s. Colony size has declined. Invasion of colonies by bald eagles may be driving a change in spatial structure.

ABSTRACT Anthropogenic nitrogen (N) enrichment propels global forest ecosystems toward phosphorus (P) limitation, theoretically triggering the upregulation of microbial P‐acquisition capacity to maintain stoichiometric balance. However, the extent to which N addition regulates this adaptive capacity remains uncertain.

The experimental design and the exometabolomic findings obtained by 1H‐NMR analysis of conditioned media from subcutaneous (SAT) and epididymal adipose tissue (EAT) explants of control and obese mice supplemented with chia oil (1.5% (w/w)). Following 8 weeks of control or high‐fat diet and 5 weeks of chia oil supplementation, SAT and EAT explants were ...

Method‐dependent differences in zooplankton abundance and size metrics: Microscopy vs. ZooScan
Abstract Image‐based approaches such as ZooScan are increasingly used for high‐throughput zooplankton monitoring. However, quantitative evaluations of methodological differences relative to conventional microscopy remain limited. In this study, zooplankton abundance and size‐based metrics obtained from microscopy and ZooScan image analysis were ...
