Life cycle of the ectoparasite Tachaea chinensis (Isopoda: Corallanidae) on the freshwater shrimp Palaemonetes sinensis (Decapoda: Palaemonidae).

Diseases of Aquatic Organisms, 2021
In this study, we describe in detail the life cycle of Tachaea chinensis (Isopoda: Corallanidae), a branchial ectoparasitic isopod that infests the freshwater shrimp Palaemonetes sinensis in China. We obtained 14 ovigerous T.

Influence of ecdysterone on molting in Palaemonetes

General and Comparative Endocrinology, 1972
Abstract Since many female decapod crustaceans are known to delay molting until after release of their larvae or young, such ovigerous female shrimp may have a high titer of molt-inhibiting substance. At that time, comparison can be made between ovigerous females and mature males in terms of their response to injections of a molting hormone ...

Sodium kinetics in the shrimp,Palaemonetes pugio

Journal of Comparative Physiology ? B, 1977
p. 195-206. ; The ability of Palaemonetes pugio to regulate internal ions was studied under steady-state conditions and non steady-state conditions. The transfer of organisms from low to high or from high to low salinities resulted in an immediated change in sodium efflux rates.

White spot syndrome virus in decapods from Mississippi Sound, USA, and susceptibility of Palaemonetes pugio and Uca panacea to a Chinese isolate.

Diseases of Aquatic Organisms, 2020
The presence and quantity of white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) was surveyed using TaqMan real-time PCR to assess the extent of the virus in Mississippi Sound, USA. A total of 3577 wild decapods comprising 11 species was collected between November 2012 and

Palaemonetes kadiakensis Rathburn in Kansas

Transactions of the Kansas Academy of Science (1903-), 1988
Huggins (1980) first reported the glass shrimp (Palaemonetes kadiakensis Rathburn, Crustacea, Decapoda) from Kansas. He and others collected 14 individuals from a small woodland pond in Woodson County near Woodson County State Lake (formerly Lake Fagan). Six of the 14 females were carrying eggs, suggesting a reproducing population.

Reproductive compensation in female Palaemonetes argentinus (Decapoda: Natantia) due to Microphallus szidati (Trematoda) infection.

Journal of Helminthology, 2020
Parasites may affect host demographic characteristics because they can directly or indirectly cause the death of their hosts and/or influence their reproduction. Parasitism is therefore recognized as a factor that influences the composition and structure

Salinity tolerance and sodium balance in the prawn Palaemonetes pugio holthuis, in relation to other Palaemonetes spp.

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A: Physiology, 1984
Abstract 1. 1. Determined lethal limits (96-hr LD 50 , values) for Palaemonetes pugio adults are 0.5 and 44‰; for larvae (first zoeae), 16 and 46‰ 2. 2. The concentration of blood sodium remains relatively constant over the salinity range 1–40‰ 3. 3. In relation to other species of Palaemonetes , it is suggested that P.
