ABSTRACT The freshwater exuviotrophic apostome, Gymnodinioides caridinae, was discovered in the Songhua River where it flows through Harbin, People's Republic of China. This apostome species thus has been found in Japan, China, and Belgium, but on different species of shrimp in each place.
