Rapid Expansion of the Palate With a New Surgical Technique
Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2010After briefly reviewing the literature concerning palatal expansion, a new technique combining surgical and medical orthodontic treatment is described. The technique, which entails detaching the nasal septum, is particularly appropriate in oral-breathing patients. Sixty-one patients (aged 10-32 years) were included in the study.

A Review of Tissue Expansion-Assisted Techniques of Cleft Palate Repair
Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2016The purpose of this report was to examine current knowledge of use of tissue expansion techniques to assist cleft palate repair and to review and contrast various techniques reported. Two separate literature searches were conducted in the Cochrane Library, CINAHL, Medline and Embase databases, from database inception until December 2014 for use of ...

Technique of Rapid Expansion in Patients with Cleft Lip and Palate
British Journal of Orthodontics, 1980A new device for rapid expansion of the maxillary arch in cleft palate patients, is described. Its main advantages are that it is designed to prevent uncontrolled relapse while the expansion screw is changed and while a retaining arch is fabricated. The buccal retaining arch leaves the alveolus and cleft accessible for surgery.

A comparison of two different rapid palatalexpansion techniques from the point of root resorption
American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 1994The aim of this investigation is to compare Haas and Cast Cap Splint devices from the point of root resorption. The material comprised thirty-eight upper and twelve lower premolar teeth derived from nineteen patients who required RME and subsequent removal of the first premolars as part of their full banded orthodontic treatment.

Management of midnasal stenosis with infant surgically assisted rapid palatal expansion (iSARPE)
The Laryngoscope, 2018INTRODUCTION Neonates are obligate nasal breathers; therefore, stenosis at any level can be associated with significant respiratory distress. Drill-out techniques are described for the management of pyriform aperture stenosis and choanal atresia; however,

The skeletal Class III malocclusion often occurs in ethnic Asia population, and it is difficult to obtain an ideal results if only treated with protraction headgear (PH). However, the combined rapid palatal expansion (RPE), Edgewise Technique and PH can reach it, so the authors investigated the methods and characteristics of combined RPE, Edgewise ...

Piezo1 Promotes Osteogenesis Through CaMKII Signalling in a Rat Maxillary Expansion Model.
Orthodontics & craniofacial researchOBJECTIVES Rapid maxillary expansion (RME) is a widely used technique to treat maxillary transverse deficiency. Piezo1 is a cation channel that is activated by mechanical force and regulates bone formation. This study aims to elucidate the role of Piezo1
