Correlative Imaging Platform Linking Taste Cell Function to Molecular Identity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A correlative imaging platform is developed to study how individual taste cells respond to different taste qualities. By linking cellular activity with molecular identity and environmental context, dual‐tuned taste cells capable of detecting both sweet and umami stimuli are identified.

Identification of a Force‐Induced Sox9+Acan+ Transitional Subpopulation Linked to FGF2–FGFR2–ERK Signaling in Orthodontic Bone Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mechanical loading induces a previously unrecognized Sox9+Acan+ transitional mesenchymal cell population in the periodontal ligament that promotes osteoclastogenesis via the FGF2–FGFR2–ERK axis. Targeting this mechanoresponsive stromal population using a localized GelMA@siRNA delivery strategy attenuates pathological osteoclast overactivation and root ...

Skeletal effects of RME in the transverse and vertical dimensions of the nasal cavity in mouth-breathing growing children

open access: yesDental Press Journal of Orthodontics
Introduction: Maxillary constriction is a dentoskeletal deformity characterized by discrepancy in maxilla/mandible relationship in the transverse plane, which may be associated with respiratory dysfunction. Objective: The objective of this study was to

Anatomic Diagram as a Novel Assessment Strategy for Subclinical Local Residual Disease in Sinonasal Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Intestinal‐type Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective In the last two decades, transnasal endoscopic surgery (TES) has become pivotal in the management of sinonasal tumors. This approach involves a multiblock tumor resection, adding complexity to the interpretation of surgical margins after pathological examination.

Early synapsids neurosensory diversity revealed by CT and synchrotron scanning

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Non‐mammaliaform synapsids (NMS) represent the closest relatives of today's mammals among the early amniotes. Exploring their brain and nervous system is key to understanding how mammals evolved. Here, using CT and Synchrotron scanning, we document for the first time three extreme cases of neurosensory and behavioral adaptations that probe ...

Finite element analysis of feeding in red and gray squirrels (Sciurus vulgaris and Sciurus carolinensis)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Invasive gray squirrels (Sciurus carolinensis) have replaced the native red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) across much of Great Britain over the last century. Several factors have been proposed to underlie this replacement, but here we investigated the potential for dietary competition in which gray squirrels have better feeding performance than ...

A method based on 3D affine alignment for the quantification of palatal expansion.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
IntroductionThe current methodologies to quantify the palatal expansion are based on a preliminary rigid superimposition of 3D digital models representing the status of a given patient at different times.
