Postoperative Outcome of Prelaminated Radial Forearm Free Flap for Soft Palate Reconstruction

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 10, Issue 6, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Objectives One method for the reconstruction of the entire soft palate is to use prelaminated radial forearm flaps (PRFFF). In a two‐step procedure the back of the flap is first epithelialized with split‐skin and subsequently used for soft palate reconstruction. Limited data exist on the perioperative and postoperative course of this technique.

Lysine Acetyltransferase 6 in Health and Disease

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 12, December 2025.
KAT6A and its paralog KAT6B have emerged as druggable targets for the treatment of malignancies, especially for breast cancer. Recent progress in drug discovery has promoted the development of dual inhibitors targeting KAT6A and KTA6B, which shows potent antitumor efficacy and manageable toxicity.

Alternative Splicing: Molecular Mechanisms, Biological Functions, Diseases, and Potential Therapeutic Targets

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 12, December 2025.
Alternative splicing (AS) expands proteomic diversity and functional complexity in eukaryotes, regulated by spliceosomal components, RNA elements, and epigenetic modifications. Dysregulated AS contributes to diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and cardiovascular conditions, among others. Therapeutic interventions, such as antisense

Development of a defacing algorithm to protect the privacy of head and neck cancer patients in publicly‐accessible radiotherapy datasets

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 52, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract Background The increase in public medical imaging datasets has raised concerns about potential patient reidentification from head CT scans. However, existing defacing algorithms, which help protect patient confidentiality, fail to preserve critical radiotherapy structures, including organs at risk (OARs) and planning target volumes (PTVs) in ...

Lymph Nodal Yield and Prediction of Mortality in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma Patients

open access: yesOtolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, Volume 173, Issue 6, Page 1421-1431, December 2025.
Abstract Objective Lymph nodal yield (LNY) is increasingly used in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) research as a prognostic factor and quality metric but remain to be validated across independent OSCC cohorts. Study design Retrospective cohort study.
