Neurofibroma of the hard palate
BMJ Case Reports, 2021Neurofibromas are defined as benign tumours arising from peripheral nerve sheaths. Few intraoral palatal cases have been reported. Neurofibromas can occur as part of neurofibromatosis, type 1 (NF1) or type 2 (NF2). A 41-year-old patient presented with a slowly enlarging soft tissue mass on the hard palate.

Schwannomas are rare, benign neoplasms that can arise from any cranial, peripheral, or autonomic nerve that contains Schwann cells. Approximately 25% to 45% of all schwannomas occur in the head and neck. They occur most commonly in the eighth cranial nerve, but it has been reported that 20% to 58% arise in the oral cavity, with approximately 10% of ...

Osteosarcoma of the hard palate
Skeletal Radiology, 1995We present the appearances of a primary osteosarcoma of the maxilla in a 26-year-old man. The role of computed tomography--specifically, sagittal and 3-D reconstructions--and the differential diagnosis of bone lesions occurring at this site are discussed.

Sialolipoma of the hard palate
Journal of Oral Pathology & Medicine, 2006Sialolipoma is a new variant of salivary gland lipoma, which was first proposed by Nagao et al. (Histopathology 2001; 38: 30) in 2001. We report this rare case of sialolipoma in the hard palate. A 60‐year‐old Japanese woman was referred to our department complaining of a painless swelling on the right side of the hard palate.

The image of the hard palate can be seen on every normal lateral skull roentgenogram. The hard palate should extend from the premaxilla anteriorly, as far posteriorly as the pterygopalatine fossae.Absence of this image indicates destruction of the hard palate throughout its length. When there is a portion of the corticated line formed by the hard palate
