Palatine tonsils: physiology and pathology
Vestnik otorinolaringologii, 2019The article presents modern ideas about the etiology, pathogenesis, and features of the clinical picture of chronic tonsillar pathology. Anales otorrinolaringologicos ibero-americanos, 2006
Lipomatous tumors represent an unfrequent cause for upper aerodigestive tract neoplasms, specially concerning the palatine tonsils, that should be included in their differential diagnosis. A case of palatine tonsil lipoma in a 11 year-old girl is reported and a revision of the available literature and some considerations about this condition are ...

Polypoid lipoma of the palatine tonsil
The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1993A polypoid, pedunculated tumour of the left palatine tonsil was incidentally detected in a 42-year-old female. It was composed of mature fat and was covered by a nonkeratinizing squamous epithelium with an underlying rim of fibrous tissue. The literature on tonsillar lipoma is reviewed and the differential diagnosis of polypoid lesions of the tonsil is

Lymphoid Polyps of the Palatine Tonsil
International Journal of Surgical Pathology, 2007Tonsillar lymphoid polyps are uncommon lesions that have rarely been studied. The authors describe the clinical, histopathologic, and immunohistochemical features of 6 tonsillar polyps in which lymphoid tissue represented more than 80% of the lesion. Presenting symptoms were tonsillar mass and/or dysphagia.

The epithelium of canine palatine tonsils
Anatomy and Embryology, 1995The palatine tonsil is positioned to play a key role in protecting the body against ingested microorganisms. These microorganisms must traverse the tonsillar epithelium to initiate immune reactions, but no information is available from dogs on the structure of this epithelium.

Testicular seminoma metastasizing to palatine tonsil
Clinical Oncology, 1993Patients presenting with Stage I seminoma of the testis have an excellent prognosis after treatment by orchidectomy and prophylactic radiotherapy to the paraaortic and pelvic lymph nodes. Only 2% subsequently recur but relapse in these cases has been reported in unusual sites such as the prostate and mesentery.

Comparative Immunobiology of the Palatine Tonsil
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1988Most structural and functional differences in organs of the mammalian immune system are probably adaptive modifications to a variety of environments and modes of life. Fioretti (1961) reported that the tonsils are composed of lymphoid nodules, paranodular areas, capsules of connective tissues, epithelial crypts and lymphoid cells invading the ...

A 7-year-old spayed female Doberman Pinscher had a fluctuant red mass that filled the entire crypt of the left palatine tonsil. The mass was surgically excised and was found to be a tonsillar cyst on histologic examination. Because the cyst was lined with pseudostratified epithelium, embryonic origin was the most probable etiopathogenesis.

Hypernephroma Metastatic to the Palatine Tonsils
Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1979Review of the literature discloses 76 cases of carcinoma metastatic to the palatine tonsil. Of these cases reported or mentioned, 51 were detailed sufficiently or occurred frequently enough to allow analysis. We add two new cases of hypernephroma, and also study the courses of patients with primaries of the stomach, breast, lung and melanoma and ...
