Abstract A new Old World trident bat (Rhinonycteridae) is described from an early Miocene cave deposit in the Riversleigh World Heritage Area, northwestern Queensland, Australia. Living rhinonycterids comprise a small family of insect‐eating, nasal‐emitting rhinolophoid bats from Africa, Madagascar, Seychelles, the Middle East, and northern Australia ...

Microgravity Monitoring in Fractured‐Vuggy Carbonate Reservoirs
With the development of Tahe Oilfield entering the high water cut stage, gas channeling occurs in fractured‐vuggy system during nitrogen injection, resulting in some inefficient wells. To improve the development effect of gas flooding, how to define the distribution of fracture, vuggy, and remaining oil has become one of the urgent problems to be ...

In the Yan’an gas field, southeast of Ordos Basin, the discovered natural gas reserves are 114 billion cubic meters. Highly productive gas reservoirs were formed in paleokarst. By using 164 samples from 27cores, the geochemical study of diagenetic evolution was carried out, and the relationship between different diagenesis environments was discussed by

Abstract We explore the effects of the Pliensbachian–Toarcian Boundary Event (P–ToBE) on tropical carbonate productivity in the interior to margin and slope of the Venetian Platform (Northern Italy). We document the P–ToBE for the first time in the shallow‐water platform margin, and we bio‐ and chemostratigraphically tie it to transgressive/regressive ...

Upper Ordovician hardgrounds – from localized surfaces to global biogeochemical events [PDF]
Upper Ordovician hardgrounds display a spectrum of complexity reflecting a range of local to global-scale processes. Hardgrounds are cemented seafloor surfaces typically marked by the presence of encrusting taxa and borings.

Review of Modeling Approaches to Groundwater Flow in Deformed Carbonate Aquifers
Abstract We discuss techniques to represent groundwater flow in carbonate aquifers using the three existing modeling approaches: equivalent porous medium, conduit network, and discrete fracture network. Fractures in faulted stratigraphic successions are characterized by dominant sets of sub‐vertical joints.

Owing to multiple tectonic events after the Late Triassic, the northern segment of the western Sichuan depression (NSWSCD) has a complex geological history of significant uplift and deeply buried. With abundant oil and gas play in the NSWSCD, the study of paleo‐oil reservoir systems and early hydrocarbon accumulation in this area is of great ...

Seeing beyond the outcrop: Integration of ground-penetrating radar with digital outcrop models of a paleokarst system [PDF]
Paleokarst breccias are a common feature of sedimentary rift basins. The Billefjorden Trough in the High Arctic archipelago of Svalbard is an example of such a rift.

Carbonate reservoirs are the main reservoir types in China, which occupy the large ratio of reserves and production at present. The high‐efficiency development of carbonate reservoirs is of great significance to assure the stability of national energy supply.
