Abstract Sediments deposited into foreland basins can provide valuable insights related to the geological evolution of their hinterlands. Located in the peripheral foreland of the South Sistan Suture Zone (SE Iran), the Karvandar Basin exhibits a several‐kilometer‐thick shallow‐marine to continental clastic sedimentary sequence forming elongated sub ...

Abstract Contractional deformation structures at the front of transpressional orogens display complex three‐dimensional geometries deviating from the interpretative templates commonly applied in thrust belts. Accordingly, detailed constraints on deformation patterns and associated paleofluid circulation are desirable, especially for fracture geometry ...

Abstract The Monforte de Moyuela dam, also known as Ermita de la Virgen del Pilar dam, is a Roman reservoir built on a tributary of the Aguasvivas River (Ebro basin, Spain). A multidisciplinary study has been carried out to investigate this kind of Roman water infrastructure. It is the fifth‐highest dam (16.8 m) in the Iberian Peninsula and the seventh

The Limagne Basin: a journey through modern and fossil microbial deposits☆
The Limagne Basin (Massif Central, France) originated during a major, European-scale, extensive event (European Cenozoic Rift System), which led to the formation of several rift systems in the foreland of the Alps between the Upper Eocene and Pliocene. A

Abstract In organic soils, the availability of terminal electron acceptors (TEAs) determines the ratio of CO2 to CH4 formation under anoxic conditions. While the importance of electron accepting capacities (EACs) of organic matter is increasingly acknowledged, redox properties of organic matter have only been investigated in a limited set of peat and ...
