남미 파타고니아 남부 빨리아이케 지역에 분포하는 플라이오세-제4기 대지현무암의 성인을 규명 하고자 암석기재 및 지구화학적인 연구와 K-Ar 연대 측정을 실시하였다. 빨리아이케 대지현무암은 감람석 반정을 갖는 다공질의 현무암으로 분포지역에 따라 중심상과 주변상으로 대별된다. K-Ar 전암연대는 중심상이 2.12~1.66 Ma, 주변상이 0.12 Ma를 보여주는데,이는 후대지현무암기의 말 기에 해당한다.
