Mitochondrial DNA phylogeny of the spinlobster genus Palinurus (Decapoda: Palinuridae)
2006 First International Symposium on Environment Identities and Mediterranean Area, 2006In the Mediterranean sea, the high commercial value of lobsters has an important economical impact. Palinurus elephas and Palinurus mauritanicus are distributed in the Western Mediterranean sea and in the North-Eastern Atlantic Ocean. Overfishing is one of the principal causes of spiny lobsters rarefaction.

Sound production mechanism in the Brazilian spiny lobsters (Family Palinuridae)
Zoomorphology, 2019Strident lobsters of the Palinuridae family emit sounds in the presence of predators that can be used in the acoustic monitoring of such species. This study aims to identify sound emission and describe the structures of sound mechanism in red (Panulirus meripurpuratus) and green (Panulirus laevicauda) Brazilian spiny lobsters.

First Pliocene decapod crustacean (Malacostraca: Palinuridae) from the Antarctic
Antarctic Science, 1997A single specimen of palinurid lobster, possibly Linuparus, from Pliocene rocks on Marine Plain, Princess Elizabeth Land, documents the only post-Miocene occurrence of decapod crustaceans in the Antarctic. The badly crushed, partial remains, probably an exuvia, are encrusted with the serpulid worm, Spirorbis Daudin.

Mitochondrial DNA variation and phylogenetic relationships of Jasus spp. (Decapoda: Palinuridae)
Journal of Zoology, 1992The seven species of rock lobster in the genus Jasus have a fragmented circumpolar distribution, inhabiting continental or island waters of the Southern Ocean. Gene flow between nominal species is possible as the planktonic larval stages of Jasus are widely dispersed in major oceanic gyres. Restriction endonuclease analysis of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA)

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A: Molecular & Integrative Physiology, 2003
In Jasus edwardsii (Hutton) the vascular resistance of each of the seven major arterial systems leaving the heart was increased in response to several of the following neurotransmitters and neurohormones: acetylcholine, adrenalin, serotonin, dopamine, octopamine and peptides proctolin and FLRFamide-related peptide F(1).

Lipid Nutrition of the Spiny Lobster Panulirus Japonicus (Decapoda, Palinuridae): a Review
Crustaceana, 1994The nutritional research on crustaceans such as the American lobster Homarus americanus and the prawn Penaeus japonicus has been reviewed by several workers. However, nutritional studies on Palinuridae are very scarce, particularly on the larval stages that are difficult to rear under artificial conditions.
